    Great mixer
First and foremost, this mixer can easily take on some big names in the audio world. The first things I look for in mixers are portability and build quality.Portability – This isn’t the most portable mixer. Which is fine, it isn’t advertised that way. The housing is all metal which gives it some good weight and it’s large compared to my main A&H mixer.Build – Right off the bat, you can tell this mixer is built like a tank. It has an all metal housing. The knobs, faders and switches are all tight and solid.Performance – the closest “big name” mixer I can compare it to (that I’ve used anyway) is the Yamaha MG12XU. I can say though, that the PTL-800 reigns over the Yamaha. The sound quality is crisp. No more standby hiss than other high end mixers I’ve used. The preamps in the mixer are great. Very responsive and loud.I tested the mixer with a Behringer XM8500 and a QSC k10.2Before switching on the EQ , the signal was already very balanced. The 3 band EQ gives you more than enough flexibility to dial in whatever tone you’re looking for.The Bluetooth connectivity is a nice touch.Easy to setupI do think however, where this mixer misses a little is the FX. Plenty of effects to choose from but they all sound a little too “digital.” Not much can done about that. Reverb is mainly what is but if you dial it back to just where it comes in it sounds perfect. Can’t say much about the other FX.Overall this mixer is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I would definitely use this in a home setup or a karaoke situation in a club, bar, etc.

Nice little mixer for the money..
When I received the PTL-800 and opened the box, I noticed it had a good weight to it. Once I got it unwrapped, I noticed the body of the mixer felt sturdy. I messed with the knobs, buttons and faders testing them out. The faders felt a bit scratchy when adjusting. The knobs felt cheaply made with some wobbling when used. The buttons felt good when pressed on and off. The mute buttons LED seemed very dim when the mute button was pressed. The Bluetooth function was nice. I was able to pair my iPhone quickly with ease. The headphone amplifiers had plenty of power and volume when used with sound isolating in ear monitors. It was also nice to see a BT to main knob so the signal could be boosted or raised.I was interested in the USB recording function. There was not much information about it in the manual or online. The first thing to note is it only sends the main bus to the USB. Bluetooth audio was sent to the USB output also. Each channel that is assigned to the main output will go too. I was able to record using Garage Band and Presonus Studio One on my MacBook Pro. I was also able to record to my iPad Pro using Garage Band. I did find that there was a small difference in signal level when recording. The playback level was lower in volume. This is a nice feature for someone wanting to record a band rehearsal. I could not see myself using this as a live show recording feature. The channel strip contains Gain, EQ, Aux send and Fx send. The most impressive point for this board is that every microphone input has a dedicated phantom power supply. Most boards of this size and price only have one global phantom power button. The microphone gain is sufficient and the high pass filter in a nice feature as well. The EQ section has an EQ in button. The EQ is ok. I think making the midrange more parametric like with a frequency sweep and viable Q would make the EQ section stronger. The 2 aux sends are good. One is Pre/post selectable if you don’t need monitors. The Effects are decent. The delay and echo sound good and the tap tempo button makes setting the delay time easy. The reverbs have multiple settings which are accessed by pressing the selector button and turning to increase or decrease the reverb time.Overall I think this little mixer is pretty good. I would recommend this for a band on a budget or podcasting. It has some flexibility and is for its price I think you can’t go wrong with this. There is even a sub out with adjustable crossover and separate sub level. If you are looking for an affordable mixer for a small PA set up, you should consider this mixer.

GREAT Board For An Economic Price!
I recently was given the opportunity to review the PTL-600, and I have to say that Phenyx Pro continues to amaze me!The pros:- The design. It is SUPER compact and simple to use. It only took me about five minutes to get it set up and running to my requirements for playing music and doing karaoke. It’s compact design for a six-channel mixer makes the best use of the space so it doesn’t feel too bulky when transporting.- The sliders. They are the exact right size and move in a snug way that prevents over or under adjusting. The spacing also works well to avoid fat-fingering the buttons next to the slides.- The processor. With a number of different options for reverb or echo (and even timing options within some of them), I was able to find a nice effect to use for recording or just singing along to a track. Having the slide for just the effects works well so I can keep the Effects knob on the mic channel in one place.- LEDs with the sliders: When not using the PFL function (which I am also a fan of), this helps me at least keep a high-level look at what is being pushed out of each channel.- Dual Headphone Jacks: This is GENIUS. For when I am doing a live remote podcast, I can run one headphone jack to the table for myself and the cast while having a separate one for the engineer so I don’t have to run a splitter or extra long cable back from the table. Having “Phones 2” on the front side of the board also cuts down on the number of wires that can get caught up in slides or knobs while making adjustments.- Bluetooth Capability: Pairing my phone to the board was INCREDIBLY easy, and being able to turn it on or off means I don’t have to disconnect it from my phone and then re-connect it when I want to use it again.- Phantom Power BY CHANNEL: This is the biggest thing for me. Using the mic in my home studio or the one I use when I am behind my DJ Booth, being able to isolate Phantom Power to just the channel that needs it is nothing short of AWESOME. This gives me better ownership of the right amount of “oomph” on EVERY channel without compensating. The cons (and I know some of these are nit-picky…that is how good this thing is):- Bluetooth to AUX: In my home studio, I was running Aux 1 to a speaker for when I just want to listen to music. Unfortunately, using my phone to Bluetooth to the board would not go out to the Aux feed. Not sure about the Bus, but I will check that.- No case: Again, I know this is nit-picking, but this is the first product I have gotten from Phenyx Pro that did not have some kind of carrying mechanism for it. Given the price point, I can still get one for less than what I would pay otherwise.- Top Connectors: This is more of a personal preference than anything else, but I have always been a fan of the mic and line connectors on the away-facing side of a board. It’s not a deal-killer by ANY stretch of the imagination, but more of an aethetic thing.Overall, I am VERY impressed by the PTL-600 and would HIGHLY recommend it!
