Great system. Great value.
I live in a small apartment, and I wanted something with good sound and, primarily, a solid receiver to hook up my upgraded center channel speaker. If you’re in a small space, I wouldn’t recommend getting such a large center channel speaker like I did, as the system already comes with a good one. The receiver has been great and doesn’t overheat like the ones I’ve seen at Best Buy. It works perfectly with HDMI ARC and also supports digital optical. Unfortunately, it creates a noticeable lag with Xbox, so I wouldn’t recommend using it for gaming. However, if you connect the HDMI to the TV and plug the Xbox directly into the TV, you won’t experience any lag. Overall, it’s an awesome system for the price. I even checked on Prime Day, and it didn’t go on sale for any less. At $400, it’s a fair deal, and if you find it cheaper, it’s a steal.

Sounds better than expected
While I am big fan of Yamaha Audio equipment, and have purchased alot of Yamaha stuff over the years, since the 80s actually.
This system sounds pretty good, especially for the price. However the processor does so many different things, that it does nothing easy. Eventually maybe I’ll get used to that, and figure it all out. And the fact, that the complete user manual, is only online, 117 pages long. Is kinda cumbersome.
But again, once I crank it up, it’s pretty good for the price.

Outstanding system
Great sound. Easy set up. Great system especially for the price.
Only drawback is the speaker wire they supply.
Spend the $10 and buy better speaker wire.

Good Value But Torturous To Set Up For ‘Home Theatre in a Box’
I would give this four or five stars however for a ‘Home Theatre in a Box’ the set up and install is torture and frustrating and really shouldn’t be.
1. It comes with tiny gauge speaker wire uncut. You will need to watch youtube videos and practice preparing the wire. You will need wire cutters, wire strippers, pliers and probably tweezers if you are an adult (more explanation pending).
2. It barely comes with enough speaker cable for an average size bedroom. It is extremely fragile so will rip apart when you strip it.
3. The speaker cable is all white, no red/black showing easy positive negative. There is some very light grey writing you can see to distinguish each cable.
4. It does not come with speaker/banana plugs. You will need to twist the cable and insert into the back of the receiver and screw them in. The speaker wire plugs are so close together this is almost impossible to do. You will likely need tweezers if your fingers are larger than a child’s.
5. The speaker wire plugs on the speakers themselves are tiny and quite cheap/light clips. It is like threading a needle to get the wire in, then the clips are so weak it will easily slip out.
Once you have dealt with the cable nightmare it is not over yet. The ARC connection is turned off by default for some reason. You will have to turn that on, you will find that alluded to in the instructions (that they don’t provide, then referred to another page in the instructions to actually see how to do it. You will then need to work out how to turn ARC on in your TV to activate and turn on surround sound.
Once you have done all this the system is fine and good value for money. I recommend (aside from ordering all the relevant tools in advance is that you buy some decent 16 gauge speaker cable instead of the rubbish they send you.

Just what I wanted. Wish it had Dolby Atmos but still a great sound.
