    Just the right size!
The drum rug/mat is the perfect size for my drum kit. I had a small 4′ x 5′ shag carpet remnant that I used as a drum rug. The problem, of course, is that the hi hat would slip off the side, or the throne would slip off the back. On occasion, one of my cymbal stands would readjust itself when I hit the cymbal from an odd angle. This mat is 5′ x 6.6′. My entire kit fits very easily on this rug. It is the perfect size! I have a standard 5-piece set with several cymbals (6 including the two hi hats) plus three mic stands. Having all this fit on a single carpet is great. The carpet/mat itself is thin but strong with rubberized bottom. The carpet is compact and taut. The edges are well constructed. It includes a couple sewn-on Velcro straps to secure it when it is rolled up. This is convenient and makes it easy to store and transport. One thing that I was concerned about is the folds. The description of the mat suggested using an iron on the folds if they didn’t come out. This ended up not being any problem at all. It comes packed in a compact rectangular box. I unpacked it, unfolded it, and put it in my band van for a couple days. This took out most of the obvious folds. I then rolled it up and secured it (with the Velcro straps) and put it in my garage for a few more days. At the first gig that I used it, the folds were barely noticeable and were not any problem at all. This is a must have for any drummers who play on a hardwood, concrete, linoleum, or any stage that is not carpeted. And for that matter, I will probably use it on carpeted stages to help protect the floor from drum anchors, scrapes, or stains that my set may cause. Good drum rug/mat!!

    Perfect size!
This is the perfect size drum mat for my practice space. The non-slip grip is great on it and keeps it from sliding on the smooth floor I have the mat on. The only downside was that the mat came rolled up and took a while for it to eventually lay flat. Other than that, it functions like a perfect drum rug/mat and I would recommend this to any drummer looking for a mat for their kit.

A little bigger than others, seems durable
I compared this to a mat I have in my recording booth that is the same thickness as this, but made of a foam material. The immediate difference is this drum mat won’t tear as easily. When I rolled an equipment rack across the foam stuff, it sliced it, so I have to be really careful when moving things around on it. I don’t have that concern with this product, it’s meant to have drum spurs on it and to stand up to the pulling and stretching forces. That said, I do prefer the look of the foam material over this mat. They tell you you can iron this mat if the creases bother you, and I would say that’s a good idea even though I didn’t do it. I have this down on the floor in a rehearsal room so we have a comfy something to walk on in our socks instead of on tile, and to eliminate some of the echo in the room, but it does look a little unkempt with the creases sticking up.Regardless of that, I like the size and the apparent durability. The 6 ft edge is a little bigger than most of the mats I see offered and the material feels strong. If we get to where we want to play some gigs, I can see this being a nice travel companion where we could tape out the drum positions and then just roll this up for transport.Price wise, this mat is $13 cheaper than my cushier foam mat for the same sq footage. I do wish it was a little thicker and plush but that might make it tougher to transport. Nonetheless, for a rehearsal space, thicker would be nicer and it might lay down better. The non-slip backing does seem to work, by the way, I haven’t noticed the mat moving around any in the 2 rehearsals so far.

    Decent
Pretty decent rug. Looks good and seems like decent quality. My only complaint would be that there needs to be more rubber on the bottom for better grip.

    good drum rug
I give honest reviews even though this was a vine order that i got for free.I’ve played music professionally and non professionally for a couple of decades, and although i have tried the “drum specific rugs” in the past I usually find them not worth the price over a normal carpet. This particular rug, although I did get it for free, the actual normal price is reasonable and about the same price point as a regular rug of the same size. Maybe because there isn’t some drum company’s brand attached, or some gimmick built in.So- here are the positives- although pretty sturdy, it is pretty lightweight. Another important feature – the surface will catch velcro (actually both the upper side and the side facing the floor) – this is really important for those who use velcro on pedals and other accessories to keep them in place. I also feel that this can be used with the bottom side up and it would work nicely as well, as the bottom side seems more grabby for catching hardware legs. The rug also is thick enough that it won’t bunch up in areas -it will lay flat and square and seems it will remain so- whereas some rugs would have a tendency for different areas to start scooching as stand based would move while other areas would stay put.I think this will work best for gigs as it can roll up and move easily. Oh yeah- it has a built in strap to secure it in a cylinder once rolled up.as far as “soundproofing” or whatever the description says about muffling- I am not so sure about that and really you don’t want excessive sound absorption if you are in a live setting.I may buy one of the other sizes for my latin percussion setup as well actually, as I said these are worth the price that they charge for them at this point.

This rug looked good in the promotional pictures. However it is much lighter and thinner than expected. I’ve had it a for month, and the creases from the shipping haven’t settled.Did try ironing as suggested, but it didn’t help. Somewhat disappointing.
