This is my initial experience with an 8Bitdo product. I frequently game on the PS5 and PC, and have owned multiple Dualsense controllers as well as an Xbox Series X controller.Honestly, the controllers from Sony and Microsoft are reliable and have set industry standards, being crafted from high-quality materials. Sony’s controller boasts haptic feedback and a trackpad, along with exclusive gameplay features for the PS5. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s controller is known for its asymmetrical design and comfort. Both controllers perform well when used with a PC.However, every product has its disadvantages. The battery life of Sony’s Dualsense controller doesn’t match that of Microsoft’s, and the thumbsticks of Microsoft’s controller aren’t as precise as those on the Dualsense. Sony’s controller boasts a significantly higher polling rate than Microsoft’s, while Microsoft’s controller offers greater PC compatibility.Considering all of that, I wanted to try something different without spending as much as a DualSense Edge at $200 or an Xbox Elite Series 2 at $180 for boosted features.Consider the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Black Myth Wukong controller. Priced at $35, it offers features not found in mainstream controllers, such as Hall Effect thumb sticks that resist drifting, an included 2.4G dongle, remappable shoulder buttons, and an attractive Wukong-themed paint job. The top shell is slightly translucent, complemented by textured grips on the back. Additionally, metal rings encircle the thumb sticks to minimize wear and ensure smooth rotation.There are numerous advantages, but there are also some drawbacks. Currently, there is no ideal method for dependable Bluetooth support on Windows, even after a firmware update. Indeed, you can pair the controller with a PC via Bluetooth, but it lacks the simplicity of using the included dongle or a wired connection. Using via Bluetooth you must manually program all buttons, and this configuration differs from one game to another. While controller support through Steam is more consistent once you do this once, issues arise when attempting to play on platforms like Epic Games, Ubisoft, etc., where it can be challenging to have the controller recognized as an Xbox controller, X-input, on a game-by-game basis. However, these problems are non-existent as long as you use the included dongle instead. It’s unfortunate that the same reliability isn’t available via Bluetooth, especially since Bluetooth is intended for Android and the 2.4g dongle is for PC, with the selection managed by a switch on the controller’s back.There are pros and cons to consider. Using a dongle, you can anticipate a stronger connection, whereas Bluetooth typically offers better battery life. The battery lasts about 20 hours with the dongle, compared to about 35 hours on Bluetooth, which is a significant battery life difference.The controller’s functionality is impressive. The sticks and buttons have a satisfying click, the D-pad combines clicky responsiveness with a soft membrane feel, the shoulder buttons are pleasantly clicky, and the triggers are well-balanced with minimal travel time and just the right amount of tension. Then there’s the 1000Hz polling rate. The controller is lag free and snappy like the Dualsense.My five-star rating reflects the value of a controller with these features at such a price point. Despite some drawbacks, the inclusion of the dongle and the overall cost make it difficult to criticize.

Good controller, not great
Pros- great sticks- like the dpad- triggers feel goodCons- They don’t let u use the software for their pro controllers so the extra buttons on this controller can’t be bound to anything extra.- overly loud vibration motor- not a good fit for large handsIf you have smaller-medium hands this is a great budget pick. If you have larger hands or expected a pro controller I’d look elsewhere.

I can’t believe I was spending so much money on the official Xbox and Dualsense controller when this guy can pretty much do everything much better, with more features and most important, with half the price tag depending on which variant of this controller you buy. Here’s my quick breakdown without going into extreme minute details and calculations:Build and Material and connectivity: The controller feels sturdy, not cheap but not too premium either. It’s lightweight, so that can be a big advantage if you hate heavy controllers. Size-wise it’s smaller than Xbox and DS, but It’s not too small, nor it gave me any kind of discomfort while playing games, rather I would say its compact size feels much better when playing heavy action packed games as you can juggle around buttons way quickly! The textured grip is pretty decent and the thumb stick, triggers, d-pad and other buttons are also sturdy and satisfying to press. For the price, it has surprisingly amazing build quality! Even connectivity wise, I didn’t face any issues and the dongle works well.2. Additional features: This is where it shines! The extra R4/L4 bumpers are awesome and very useful in combat games. At first, they might seem small and hard to press, but when you do start playing, they are surprisingly easy to reach (maybe coz of the controller compact size) and makes the gameplay so much fun as you can remap them in game or assign them as a secondary button from the controller. For example, pressing the right thumbstick for certain actions can be a pain, with this controller you can just assign the thumb stick click to R4/L4.Other important features with be the Hall effects sticks and triggers, so no worries of the infamous dead zones which are currently haunting the premium elite 2 controllers.In conclusion, I rarely post any reviews, but this controller is so good for the price that I couldn’t stop myself from writing one! It’s a great upgrade from your old xbox and ds controllers with a lot more additional features with no sacrifice in the build quality along with a reasonable price tag!
