    It works.
Not a rechargeable…. That’s always dead when you need it. It takes batteries. But when there is no power… I still have a phone.

Only Worked for a Few Hours, and Not Well.
UPDATE: Tested with alkaline batteries. After three hours, my 10k mAh power bank was still at 25% charge, and now the light doesn’t work. Will be returning this, regretfully. There’s a lot to like about this item. It’s compact, with an easy-open top. The LED light is bright and steady. And the price is right. That said, it does seem to be a little slow.I tested it with the only two types of batteries I had on hand, a set of Super Heavy Duty ones from a dollar store, and a national brand rechargeable type. Alkaline batteries are strongly recommended by the manufacturer, and I don’t doubt they’d yield better results than what I used. But here’s what I found:After one hour, the Super Heavy Duty batteries had charged my older Android from 82% to 88%. After an additional hour, it was still there. Thinking the batteries may have died, I pulled and tested them. They were just about 35% depleted. The second test, with branded rechargeables, yielded similar results. After one hour, it charged to 95% from 88%, and wouldn’t go any further. Those batteries tested out at around 30% depleted.Things I think would help yield better results: A faster cable, the proper type of battery, and charging a power bank instead of directly charging a phone. I have a few 10-20k mAh banks I’m going to fool with to see if I get better results. The bottom line? It does the job, albeit slowly, and would probably charge a small flip phone more quickly. With a good supply of AA alkalines, it’s a good alternative to solar for an emergency tool kit, and worth the $7 I paid. I would buy it again.

    Works as expected
Got this because batteries on major incidents are readily available. Plus empty, it does nothing to my weight.

Works but you’ll need plenty of Alkaline batteries
Update: Ultra Alkaline batteries work best. Can get a couple hours of charge off 4 batteries. Maybe more if you’re not on your phone at the same time. If you’re going to buy this make sure you have plenty of alkaline batteries. Otherwise, you will be frustrated. May need hundreds of batteries if in a storm or power outage. My point is that this does work but don’t expect to use this full charge or to be able to binge watch any movies or shows. For the price it serves its purpose.

    exactly as advertised
great gadget to keep in your car or purse. Runs on regular batteries which is great in a power outage or in your car with a dead battery. Universal USB Plug so anything can be charged with it. Takes four small batteries and lasts a few hours for phone usage. Longer if just charging up . Can get a least one full charge on ine set of batteries

Does not work for charging. Don’t buy!!
There was at least one review that said this doesn’t work and I wish I listened to them. My lights recently went out for 8-12 hours and I bought this when they were out thinking it could be a while before they came back on. It has a flash light and that works great. For some reason though, it has a red backup light on at all times when not in use, which means it’s draining the batteries when it’s not being used. I was really hoping the review was wrong, but they so got it right. Save your money look for a better product.

    Very useful
Using rechargeable batteries it’s as good as any charger and in a tough spot you can use batteries available anywhere. Great for traveling. An inexpensive solution.

Don’t be in such a rush.
This charger has it’s uses, however, it needs fresh, NEW alkaline batteries installed for optimum performance and will still take several hours to fully charge a cell phone. Not the most powerful thing you can buy but it is cheap and uses batteries. It will provide enough juice to dial 911 if required. Keep as a last resort backup charger.
