Perfect for its intended use
First off, these are not your high end perfect pitch headphones, nor are they intended to be. The sound is a bit “tinny” and distorted, yes, but the fact that these things even work is pure magic.Setup is a breeze. I was able to power them on and pair them immediately to my phone. The volume/power buttons are easy to find and use, even in the water.Wait, did I mention water? Yes I did. These things work in the water. With the included ear plugs, you can easily go under water and hear your audio. It takes a little getting used to, but it’s still seriously cool.I happened to purchase these in December, so the pool is closed down, but I do use them in the shower and have tried them out in the bath tub and hot tub. I’m so impressed that every family member that comes by has to try them on. They seem to fit all kinds of shapes and sizes and my husband can even get them around his watermelon sized head.Battery life has not been an issue so far. I have charged them once but haven’t really found it to be a limiting factor.One thing to mention, be careful of what you’re listening to with others around because the sound travels well!Great product, really fun, awesome to be able to use them UNDERWATER!

Not the prettiest on the block, but it gets the job done
Initial impressions of the build quality; it feels pretty robust, I have no reason to doubt the waterproof claims, which are well in excess of the competition’s IPX5. They are somewhat larger, though. The head strap is very springy, and rests comfortably on the ears. The pressure imparted on the temples isn’t uncomfortable, and similar to competitors. Expect these will be pretty comfortable for extended wear while exercising or just around the office. The design is very “meh”, I don’t think all of the articulations and sharp edges are doing anything for the appearance. These are utilitarian statement rather than a style one.Pairing via was fast and simple, no complications.For the MP3 player function, you load music onto the headset like any USB drive after plugging it into a computer (the cable is USB-A, unfortunately). The polarity of the plug is controlled by the embedded magnets.There is no folder structure on the device, just a few sample MP3’s with Chinese character titles. The USB transfer speed is verrrry sloooow, it took nearly 2 minutes to load 23 songs (just over 130 MB.); I disconnected halfway through uploading 1GB+ of music which would have taken a total of about 20 minutes. Between that and the fact that there’s no way to organize music means I’m sticking to some relatively short ad-hoc workout mixes, so there’s lots of wasted space in that 32 GB. I’m pretty sure it just plays the songs alphabetically, according to the file name.The bone conduction function definitely works, you can put earplugs in your ears and the music actually gets louder! The swimmers earplugs that come with it aren’t very useful to me, they feel too long to get a good seal in my ear, which has relatively large canal. If you’ve used swimmers earplugs successfully before, you’ll probably have better luck than me. Music is definitely audible to those around you, it doesn’t sound that much louder when you put them on. It really sounds quite loud if you plug your ears though. As an avid cyclist, I’ve always been nervous about in–ear buds while riding, but the bone conduction doesn’t fit the bill, either. It’s very hard to get the volume high enough that it can overcome the wind noise – which having these in front of your ears probably doesn’t help that.Where are these really shine is in the pool, which is also where they sound the best. Whether you use earplugs or just have water in your ears, it really makes these sound better. They really are truly swimming headphones, rather than fitness headphones.The microphone is subpar, highly susceptible to wind noise, and I suspect covered in some waterproofing treatment that impedes performance. Don’t expect to be doing conference calls with these.Operations using the buttons are simple and intuitive, though it’s a little difficult to get the right one without looking if you have larger fingers. It’s rather unintuitive, but the secondary feature of the volume up button skips back a track, while volume down skips forward.All in all, they are perfectly functional, but I expected more for this price. Their class-leading water resistance and underwater performance is stymied by the barebones functionality and terribly slow uploading of the onboard MP3 player.
