Fantastic laptop. Would recommend.
When I got the computer, I noticed that the display was an FHD and not a UHD. My first thought was to return it for a refund. I was told that I had 30 days from the date of purchase to return it. So, it occurred to me to give it a try and see how I liked it. Prior to this laptop, I had a Sager with similar specs and it had a UHD display. When I used the Sager, I normally had it set to less than 2160p. The reason being, was the size of the fonts. Yes, there is a way to adjust the fonts in Windows 10. But Iâve found that many applications I use, do not adjust the fonts properly. So, many of my apps would be very difficult to use simply because the font size was too small. Given that I had the display set to less than 2160p, the display never had that crisp appearance that you would get while in native mode. So, I had to ask myself⦠Would I prefer to have a laptop with a UHD display and have the resolution reduced (and have less âcrispinessâ? Or would I be better off with a laptop set to a native resolution of 1080p? I had to find out. So, thatâs what Iâve been doing over the past few weeks. Thus far, I think the Dell looks better in its native mode, than the Sager does at a resolution below its native mode. This turned out to be the deciding factor. Iâm going to keep the Dell. What I like about this laptop (Pros):1.) As stated above, I find the display to be sharp, sufficiently bright, and the colors appear true.2.) The HDMI output supports 4k@60hz.3.) I like the fact that it comes with a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 port. I donât have a use for it at the moment, but I think I will in the future.4.) The back-lit keyboard is nice. It has a nice tactile feel and does not bend with the pressure of my hands.5.) I consider this a gaming laptop, but I like the fact that it doesnât look too flamboyant. Itâs reasonably thin, is made of durable material and feels sturdy.6.) To access components such as the RAM and storage drives requires the removal of just one screw that secures the (underside) cover. Iâve installed a 500 and 480 GB SSD drives with no issues.7.) It plays all of the games I enjoy with no issues.8.) It doesnât come with bloatware.9.) While using the computer for browsing the internet, playing videos, and productivity, it remains cool and fans on low (and quiet).10.) The fingerprint reader makes logging in a no brainer.11.) The BIOS settings are the best Iâve ever seen in all of the laptops Iâve owned thus far.Cons:1.) The fan can get a bit loud when playing some graphics intensive games. Having the sound volume turned up usually drowns out the fan noise, though.2.) It doesnât have enough indicator lights. It only has only one for when it is on charge or the storage drive is active. Otherwise, no indicator lights for power, wireless, etc, like most laptops do.3.) The power adapter is big. To be honest, itâs about the same size as most other gaming laptops, so no real surprise.Other observations:1.) Setting up a dual/external monitor configuration via the HDMI port is a bit awkward. When connected to an external monitor, you must use the Nvidia control panel to adjust its video settings. While the built-in display settings are always adjusted via the Intel Graphics Settings. Iâve yet to try a triple display configuration via the thunderbolt port, so I canât comment on that.Overall, Iâd recommend this laptop to anyone. Despite the fact that the display has less resolution than is stated. After owning a laptop with a 2160p display, I prefer 1080p over it, because the fonts just donât scale across all apps, and I find that 1080p is sufficiently âcrispâ on a 15.6â display.

Excellent 4k display 3-4 hours battery life. 128GB SSD is NOT enough
-Update 2 years later-I bought the laptop again and have had this one for a year or two and it has been game changing. It can multitask visual studio, netbeans, a dozen google chrome tabs, workbench, filezilla, putty, multiple text editor windows and more with no difficulty at all. The RAM is just insane. (16GB) I will say that the 128GB on the main hard drive is NOT enough. Within a few program installations you will find your hard drive full and will begin an endless process of moving files to your secondary hard drive (1 TB) but even then, your SSD will get full. Mine only has 2 GB left and windows has been freaking out about it for months. The only thing I would certainly suggest is to buy the one with a bigger SSD. The 4k screen is fabulous but programs run HORRIBLY at 4k. Most programs aren’t designed for it and they are completely unusable. It’s flawless for gaming though. The laptop does get VERY hot but it’s designed for that. Buy a cooling pad to put underneath it and you’ll be good. After many months i got a keyboard issue where keys suddenly stop working. It can be fixed for less than $30. (Google dell 7577 keyboard problem)Also: If you buy this which I hope you do though I bought it for around 1.3k back then, try to use an external keyboard to not damage the arm rest because it’ll get discolored as many laptops do.-Original post-I love this laptop. The fans do get loud but it plays games very well even at 4k resolution.2 weeks after the purchase it started getting blue screens of death (very bad). Ever since dell updated the bios to the latest version to fix that intel cpu vulnerability.I turned off fast startup because it was just a mess.It crashes at least twice every day right after it starts up, if it doesn’t crash within 30 seconds after startup, it works perfectly fine. It might just be a driver that got installed incorrectly but I have my doubts since everything installed smoothly. I reinstalled the operating system and it still kept crashing. Has to return it since it’s a hardware issue.
