I use the Geeni smart plugs, both interior and exterior, and dimmer switch, to turn lights on at sunset and off at sunrise. These have replaced timers and photocells. I also use timer functions to turn a few lights on and off at set times. But the variety of events that can trigger on and off is great. Temperature, humidity, sky cover, wind speed, sunrise, and sunset. Setup is trivial. My only complaint is that two of the interior plugs failed after about six months, but they’re so cheap who cares.

Gets the job done at a decent price
Bought this (like most others) to control outdoor holiday lights. I bought the fist one last year before the holiday season and when I needed a second one this year I bought another of this same model. It works well and costs under $20, which is pretty much what I was looking for.I can’t speak for the Alexa integration but the Google integration works well. Connecting it to Google was simple and I have never had any issues forcing me to reconnect or anything like that… even after letting it around in the garage on a shelf for 8 or 9 months. Plugged it back in and it worked right away.I don’t have much detailed thoughts on the app itself since I only use it for initial setup and to program a timer. If I want to turn them on/off outside of my scheduled timer program, I use Google for that. Initial setup in the app was easy enough and programming a timer was straightforward. Although I will say that it would be good if you could combine multiple units onto a single schedule. Right now if you have two unit (like I do) that you want running on the same schedule (like I do), you need to manually program the same times for both. A little bit of a hassle but it’s something you do one time and then forget about it. So if it takes an extra minute or so to setup it’s not really a big deal.The only negative thing I have to say about the unit is that the little rubber/plastic outlet cover is pretty flimsy. It broke off after one season. Since there’s just one outlet though, I can’t imagine why anyone would even need the cover… you either have something plugged into it or you bring it inside. There’s no reason to leave it outside (cover or no) if you’re not using it.

I love these and the functionality. The app takes a little bit to figure out, but it does just what I need. I change them around outside as the seasons dictate. I couldn’t be happier.

Customer Service is unsatisfactory!
I wish I could rate their service âNO STARSâ! This company does not stand behind their products. I have many Geeni products and have been pleased until I have had to contact customer service. They definitely give the customer the run around. Everything you call about must go . through the development team. They claim they will get back to you! Haha good luck with that. Iâve given up I will be swapping all my Geeni products to a company that stands behind their products! This company is a joke! Update: still waiting on Development Team! They have stopped responding to my emails! Kasa products look like a good replacement one thing for sure customer service couldnât be any worse! Iâm still trying to get this warranty claim resolved 12/5/24. SORRY customer service! Do Not buy from this incompetent company and expect them to stand behind their products! Customer service is non existent! They will not respond!

The receptacle and app are great! I would constantly forget to turn off my lamp upstairs and would have to go back up. Now I can turn off the lamp with the app! Saves me steps!
