Amazing entry level DAP
I can’t seem to put this thing down. I’m not willing to fork over a large sum of money for a DAP (digital audio player), but this price point is a sweet spot for anyone looking for a device to play their music and get away from their phone. This thing runs Android, allowing me to have other apps which I love because I take this trinket with me to the gym and I even track my workouts on it, it sounds fantastic (while listening through the 4.4mm balanced jack with my IEMs) and even has LDAC Bluetooth capabilities. I use my HiBy R4 practically every day. What are you even waiting for? Get it!

Item sounds and works great. Bought a good pair of wired ear buds Linsoul KZ ZS10 Pro, 4BA+1DD 5 Driver in Ear Monitor, HiFi Wired Earbuds, and the sound is great!

Quite impressive DAP
I couldn’t be happier with this dap. I’ve been using at my new job for the past few weeks and I am shocked by the battery capacity. After being allowed 1 earbud and playing music for 8 hours, the capacity of battery usage after 8 hours typically drops to 88%. Which means I only absorb 12% of my battery after an entire 8 hours of use. Pretty impressive. The music is none other than clear and better than I would have ever expected for the price point.For those of you questioning what dap to buy, don’t be deceived by the price. You are about to enter a realm of the best dap for the price, seriously.Enjoy the music my friends! ð

Chunky, techy-looking Android brick of audio joy
This device is basically a fat little smartphone-sized Android tablet with some powerful sonic hardware inside. Yes, you can install any Android apps you want because of this, use whatever music player you want, whatever streaming app. You can browse the internet, watch videos, etc. It gets warm though.It has a continuous metal frame running around the edge with glass and plastic sandwiching everything between. It feels robust. There’s a screen protector included and a soft shell skin, but if you’re buying something this cool-looking, toss the skin and show off the device, even if does mean the power and SD card ports are exposed.The screen is responsive, but the device does lag sometimes. This is specced for playing high res audio, not video or games. It plays 1080p videos just fine though.Music apps can be complicated beasts, and Hiby’s is no different. It has all sorts of sliders and menus you can dive into to fine-tune the sound. However, if you’re a casual audiophile like me, you can also just load up your high res music, hit play, and ignore all the extra settings, it sounds great as is. A multi-color indicator light and menus on the screen tell you all the details about the audio you’re playing.I’m using this with Focal Sphear earbuds, which are mostly neutral, just like the R4. I have no complaints whether listening to Puta Volcano, Sahara Hotnights or Marcela Bovio.I like using JetAudio+ app for music, because it has some audio effects I like. Typically I “widen” the sound a little bit for tracks that feel a little too intimate for comfort lol.And I should point out, you can buy this for $250 with free shipping and no tax on their own site. For me that’s like a $30 savings, so why did I get it on Amazon? Because HiBy tries that bull**** where they tell you can’t return this item if you break the seal on the box. If you buy directly from them, you’re screwed. But if you buy from Amazon you can still return it if you get a defective player.

This is not a good product. I have had nothing but problems with this product. It came with no instructions and I went to there website and there was no information about this particular product. I even reached out to there customer service department for help and never got a response from them. Stay away from this item.

Impressive player
This DAP is great with custom EQ options, i tune for fun sound. R4 provides plenty of options for playback 4.4, 3.5 mm and Usb-c. I am an iphone user, this works well with apple music with offline downloaded music when you always want your library with you. Great choice if you don’t want to spend a lot for a quality DAP.

Budget DAP
This thing rocks. Not harder than my FIIO but that thing is way too big and expensive to take out of the house. I take this Hiby R4 to work. I dropped it and dinged it and I’m getting tons of use out of this thing. I t’s smaller in height but weighs about the same as my FIIO M11plus. I like the sound coming out of that thing better than the sound out of the Hiby R4 but for amazing sound on the go and through a pair of Grado 125 x they will give you that sound you are craving. I usually use the Hiby with a pair of Elgin headsets that approved for loud areas, seeing as how I work in a loud building and it sounds pretty good. You just have to turn the volume all the way up. I’m not an audiophile but the sound will make you nod your head even with less detail. Just be careful not to drop it. I have a giant ding in mine after dropping it on solid concrete. It still works which, for a little over 200 dollars, that’s good, I think you’re paying more for the innards than you are for the body. But for the price, you can’t beat the sound for the price.

I have a Fiio M11S that I manged to bounce off the foot of my chair and crack the screen. I sent that to China for repair and sat without a music player. Then I bought an M300 which couldn’t drive my cans. I sold that and bought this. It is good. It is also nicely styled IMO. I bought a separate strap which is also v good. The MSEB equaliser is beyond me but is very capable. It sounds quite neutral and I can’t quite get the bass to where I like it. I would recommend it but…my music is on a separate sd card for convenience although I write to it though usb typically. From fiio to hiby no issue. From hiby to fiio however there appears to be some incompatibility in file format. Even though they look the same, neither the fiio nor my laptop can see anything written to the sd card whilst it was mounted in the R4. I had to delete the files in the R4 then rewrite the to the sd card from my laptop. So. Yeah. That’s a thing.

I bought the R4 due to its specs indicating that it had been designed to cater for DSD files independently from PCM processing. The DSD playback is truly excellent, sounding very natural compared to the same music via hi-res PCM ( using Stevie Wonder’s Musiquarium pcm & dsf files ).That said, PCM sounds surprisingly less “digital” compared to my Hidizs DAP.It’s a genuine very high quality hifi source, proving to be superior to cd playback ( using Eric Clapton unplugged cd & dsf files )The R4 is a great value for money DAP which is especially capable with DSD playback. Highly recommend.
