Great for Times When You Need it Most
When I was first looking into buying an extra battery unit for my phone and some portable lights I use when hiking and camping, I read some mixed reviews on this charger (and other solar aided chargers) stating that it did not live up to its hype and that the solar power ability of the battery was bogus. After taking the plunge and deciding to buy the Hiluckey Portable Power Bank about a year ago, though, I now have enough experience using the product to give it an honest review.Let’s get a few things out in the open first. If you are like me when first looking into this kind of product, you are probably wondering what to believe and not to believe from the reviews. This is my take, speaking only from my experience with the product.The things I like about the Hilukey Outdoor Portable Power Bank are this 1) it is made using a heavy duty plastic casing that is drop resistant and weather resistant 2) it has not failed me yet in the last year of using it as my primary backup battery supply for my phone or portable rechargeable lights I use it for 3) it has been through rain, sleet, snow, and dropped in a few muddy puddles and still held up very well 4) it is not prone to overheating when in use 5) I usually could get about 4 full charges on my old iPhone 8 plus (although, I have recently switched over to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus and have not had an opportunity to determine how many full charges I can get out of it for that particular smart phone) 6) if in an emergency situation, I can get enough charge from the battery by hanging it by the solar panels from backpack while hiking, or from the outside of my tent, or rock, etc. to get my phone up and running and get out an emergency call or text should I need it.Although I have no issues with the product per say, some potential not so likes people might have with the charger are 1) it is heavy compared to some other chargers and some might find it awkward to openly carry around 2) the solar panels are for emergency use only, so you will still need to charge it overnight or for a long period during the day to put a full charge on it 3) the solar panels are attached to the power unit using a folding system with leather-ish backing to protect the panels and a small, metal clasp to secured them shut (I suppose these might have the potential to rip off or get severely damaged but I have not had any issues with them yet)The verdict, if you are looking for a power bank that is affordable and can hold up the weather, and offer you a little bit of reassurance that you can power up your phone to get out an emergency call or text should all else fail, then you should be pleased with the Hiluckey Outdoor Portable Power Bank. If you are looking for something in emergency situations that is a little bit more robust and will allow you to somehow live off the grid powered only by your keen wits and this power bank, or if want something more convenient to carry around in the open, then this is still a solid product but maybe just not right for you.Overall, I would recommend this charger to anyone, and I would have no problems buying it again.Cheers!

Know what to expect.
Got mine today. It looks good. There is no hook to hang on a backpack so some of the pictures are misleading, but the snap is on a loop so the loop can be used with some type of hook to hang it. It’s not in the center, it’s by a corner, so it won’t hang straight down as if the loop were centered.I put it in the sun and the lights show the correct indications of it charging. All of the led lights are fine, there are 4 blue and 1 green. It can take up to 50 hours to charge by sunlight, so six 8 hour days plus 2 more hours. Using that info, I figured that 25000 mah (this power bank’s capacity)/50 hrs = 500 mah per hour recharge by sunshine. So 8 hours of sunshine = 4000 mah, enough to fully charge my phone from 0 to 100%. And it should recharge my phone 7+ times, from 0 to 100%, on a full battery. Have not tested this in any way, just using the numbers given on this page.Most of the negative reviews are because of slow solar charging. Those people did not do their research before buying and did not have realistic expectations. Small solar panels like these are slow to recharge the power bank. That’s normal. All small, portable power banks will have this issue. This solar power bank has four solar panels, so it will recharge four times faster than a power bank with just one solar panel. It will take longer or shorter depending on the capacity of the power bank, larger capacity takes longer to fill. Charging through glass greatly reduces efficiency, slowing the process further.Find out the capacity of your phone, tablet, and other devices you want to use with this power bank to decide if it will work for you (I had to look the information up online). Maybe you need to buy a couple of them. That might be a better choice than buying a higher capacity power bank because it will give you double the solar panels, so double the recharging speed. Say you have a partner and you want to be able to recharge both your phones. This power bank will charge both your phones a few times, BUT recharging it with the sun will be one phone’s mAh per day. So, if you buy two of these solar power banks, you can set BOTH in the sun for the same 8 hours, getting double the benefit: two phones’ worth of charge in the same 8 hours.The purpose for getting the solar power bank is so that when there is no electricity to plug your phone into, and no electricity to plug the power bank into, there is another way to capture the desired energy. It’s slow, but it works in a circumstance when you would otherwise have no way to recharge. I got mine for after hurricanes when the power might be out for a week or more.I also see reviews complaining that the power bank stops working after a while. Other power banks have the same complaint, so it’s not specific to this one. I read up on why power banks might fail, and reread the owner’s manual. I wrote a maintenance list for myself, and put it with the power bank. I set myself reminders on my calendar to recharge it every other month. If followed, there should be no problems, based what I’ve read. This is not from experience. Yet.1. Unplug cables when not in use.2. Do not leave outside overnight.3. Do not leave in hot car.4. Recharge at least every 3 months.5. Do not allow full discharge.6. Temperature range: 32 deg. to 113 deg.7. Do not get very wet.8. Do not drop.9. Do not scratch solar panels.It came partially charged. It says to fully charge before use and every three months to maintain battery life. It also says not to leave in the hot car because the heat can damage it. Also, it’s not fully waterproof, it’s water resistant. Don’t drop it in a bucket of water.The added flashlight is a great bonus. But the charger can’t be set up to shine anywhere, you’d have to prop it up with other stuff. Good for when you’re holding it in your hand., not so good for setting on a table.I plugged the power bank in and fully charged it, then I used it with my regular phone charging cable to charge my phone. My phone battery was on 88%. It charged to 100% within 20 minutes, which is the same speed as every day when I recharge it. It’s also working fine charging my tablet.In the future, if I have problems, I will come back and post them here.

Works super well
Set it out on my line pack for a few hours while working in the sun fighting fires and the thing is fully charged for me at night! Love this thing especially useful when out camping!!

The solar charging wouldn’t work at all if there’s no power i the PowerBank. The manual claims it solar charging will charge the power and and also any device attached. Fact is solar power bank only charges devices (2 🌟 for that). If you put it in stand alone to charge the powerbank , that never works. The led indicators keep blinking at the same level as they did when you put it out for charging for whatever number of hours or days.

The solar charging didn’t work so I contacted the company, never heard anything back from them. Very poor customer service. Now I’m stuck with a very expensive “solar” charger that doesn’t work
