Tiny, well made, and fast as heck
The aluminum case is nice. It’s heavy and solidly built. It is definitely transferring at thunderbolt 3 speeds. I use it for midi instrument libraries and have had no issue with loading delays or stuttering. I am going to buy another one because of how much I like this one. I am happily surprised. It also comes with a nice bag that feels as if it’s got EM protection woven in, though I have no way to test if this is true or of its just a nifty bag. Also comes with a thunderbolt cable. Worked right out of the box with no issues. At $175 for 2tb of thunderbolt 3 speed, it’s a bargain.

Amazing on Apple M3 Max 16 inch
Everything is great. Enclosure is sturdy, included cable is heavy duty, and the drive is lightning fast. Formatted to APFS with Disk Utility, and it moves 30-35gb every 10 seconds. Enclosure gets a little hot with heavy use but its drawing heat away from the drive. I’ll update this review if the drive ever dies suddenly, otherwise I’ll be purchasing more.

    Excellent.
I bought the 1TB version then the 2TB version a week later when I realized I’d need more space. I use this drive as my primary storage for Lightroom Classic (catalog on my Mac’s (smaller) SSD) and it works excellently for that. It’s fast enough that I can easily zip through LRc without any lag and it loads up images extremely fast. Both the 1TB and 2TB versions are excellent, the enclosure is solid while being very small / easily travel-able, the Thunderbolt 3 interface works at full TB3 speeds, and opening it up to swap for a bigger M.2 drive is easy (just unscrew the side panels and slide the thing out, no need to pry off the rubber on the bottom… not sure why someone would need to do that) if you want to upgrade in the future.FYI: Can take a minute or two for macOS to fully index the drive before showing up in Finder/DiskUtil when plugging it in for the first time. Format it over to APFS and you’ll be on your way!

Product sold is product advertised and performs as specified… affordable and fast!
I purchased the pre-assembled Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 compatible PCIe SSD external enclosure with a 4TB NVMe SSD already inside the metallic case/heat-sink from the Amazon TEKQ Store. The external enclosure is designed to radiate heat and cool the internal SSD. My new laptop does not have a USB-4 port so I was unable to test USB-4 compatibility. What shipped inside the external SSD enclosure was a Micron/Crucial Technology 4TB PCIe (Gen3x4) P3 Series NVMe M.2 (2280) SSD (CT4000P3SSD8), as well as a 26″ Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C cable, metallic-like fabric carrying case, extra screws and a miniature Philips head screwdriver were also included with the product(s) sold.I use Micron/Crucial Technology SATA-III SSD in my older laptops. The Micron/Crucial Technology SSD P3 series is one of the best rated having sequential read and write speeds of 3,500 MBps and 3,000 MBps as well as a SSD endurance (TBW) of 800TB over its expected lifetime.Data transfer rates were well above 2,500 MBps (Read 2,900 MBps and Write 2,600 MBps) as stated on the Amazon website and on the packaging of the external SSD enclosure, which equates to Thunderbolt speeds of at least 20Gbps.Since my new laptop does NOT have a USB 4 port (20/40Gbps) and only supports USB 3.2 @10Gbps (Gen2x1) and not 20Gbps (Gen2x2) , having a Thunderbolt port and this 4TB external Thunderbolt SDD with at least 20Gbps data transfer speeds is great! Much better than the fastest USB 3.2 SATA-III HDD.I believe if I had separately purchased the TEKQ external SSD enclosure and a Micron/Crucial Technology 4TB PCIe (Gen4x4) P3 Series Plus 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD (CT4000P3PSSD8) instead, Thunderbolt speeds of up 5,000MBps or 40Gbps would have been possible. TEKQ should be able to advise if Thunderbolt data transfer speeds of 5,000MBps or 40Gbps is possible using their external SSD enclosure, or not? However, I am satisfied with my purchase from TEKQ. My new laptop has a USB 3.2 Type C port with a Thunderbolt 3 bridge to the PCIe bus that is Gen3x4 @ 8.0 GT/s so I may not have benefited from faster data transfer rates with a 4TB Micron/Crucial Technology PCIe (Gen4x4) P3 Plus NVMe SSD.Separately purchasing the TEKQ external SSD enclosure and the 4TB Micron/Crucial Technology PCIe (Gen3x4) P3 Series NVMe M.2 (2280) SSD (CT4000P3SSD8) on Amazon would have saved me $20 but spending the extra $20 was well worth knowing the TEKQ external SSD enclosure with a 4TB PCIe NVMe SSD already inside would work when I plugged it into my new laptop. Thanks TEKQ!

    Did Not Perform As Advertised
Bought this for the claimed performance however, once I started copying 200Gb of data, this drive slowed down to a crawl. I connected it with the cable provided by them which is a TB3 cable, to my 2022 MacBook Pro which is Thunderbolt 4 certified. The SSD in those Macs can read and write upwards of 7000Mbps. Wasn’t expecting this drive to write that fast but like I said, after a couple of minutes of writing it slowed down so much that I cancelled the transfer. Ran Blackmagic on it and it was giving me a writing rate of around 90Mbps. That’s way lower than the claimed 1759Mbps from the item description. Temperature on the drive was around 40C. I waited a couple of hours for it to cool down. I even restarted my MacBook Pro. Ran Blackmagic again and still, 90 or so Mbps write. Tried the copy again and still, very slow. Returned it. No time for this. Caveat emptor.

    Outstanding External Thunderbolt SSD
Just received this drive yesterday so this is not a long term review. I purchased this drive to use with a 2020 iMac 27″ which has a 1TB internal SSD drive. I just tested file transfer speed from the internal drive to the TEKQ and it took 15 seconds to copy a 25 GB folder. It takes three minutes to do that with my external USB 3 hard drives. I’m super impressed! I wish I could replace all the drives with one of these! I’ll update my review after using it for a few weeks. The finish of this drive is just about perfect, machined aluminum body with one Thunderbolt 3 port and an LED to indicate activity. It’s completely silent and weighs next to nothing.I highly recommend this Thunderbolt external SSD!UPDATE AFTER NINE WEEKS OF USE:No issues whatsoever. Never gets too hot. No lag in reading a massive video file. I continue to recommend this external Thunderbolt SSD!
