Rough start, good final result
I noted the reviews that said something along the lines of “you get what you pay for.” My experience is as follows:- I received the controllers, hooked them up to a raspberry pi emulator, and tested the units- The units worked, but performance was unpredictable and inconsistent- I reached out to the vendor (kiwitata). The vendor responded fairly promptly, and sent replacement controllers.- The replacement controllers worked much better, and we’ve had no issues with them.To sum up, I appreciated the vendor’s effort to resolve the issue promptly.Following is the vendor’s email response:Dear Adam, Thanks for your contact. And we apologize for the inconvenience caused to u. We’ve contacted you on Aug 13 and hope to solve this issue after we saw your 3 star feedbacks on Amazon. But message undelivered. Yes, the D-pad seems defective.We are willing to re-send one set to you for replacement free of charge. You are also not need to return the defective ones. The new set has been improved by our factory. Please see attached controller printed “Kiwitata” logo. The appearance of the controllers is the same with the one you got. But it is not the same. The improved one is made of new mold and the one you buy that is made of old mold. The difference between the two is: 1. Materials are not the same. The material of the new one is ABS. Good gloss, especially A B button. 2. The new one will be more texture. It is a little bit heavier than the old one. High quality feel. 3. The new version button function is more accurate, faster response. 4. The main difference is the electronic components inside the circuit board are not the same. The functional modules have been improved. We will not let disappointed again. The tracking number will be provided to you tomorrow. Pretty decent controllers
I needed a SNES controller for my video game review series Georg Mack Plays the Classics. I hemmed and hawed for awhile and decided on these. So far, they’ve been great. They feel good, buttons are nice, and compatibility for what I want is there.If I wear them out, I’ll buy them again at this point.Update: It took a little over a year of heavy use for both controllers to end up having issues. I would take one with my laptop and use it a ton. The wire casing separated with both controllers (one taking the wires with it) and the B button got sticky through use on both.I did order another set to replace them, as I believe I received value for the price.

One Controller Did Not Work – *UPDATE*
*Updated Review*Spoke with customer service regarding the non-functioning controller. They were extremely responsive and supplied a replacement asap, which is an awesome working controller. Great to work with a company that takes pride in its product and willing to provide excellent service. Thank you!*Original Review*1 of 2 controllers out of the box worked. Tested both separately in the same PC usb slot and other available usb slots. The functioning controller is great and has a responsive feel, unfortunately, would rather have 2 working controllers. Otherwise, still a good product for emulators etc.

Defective product
One of the controllers arrived with a damaged cord as seen in the first picture. The other controller’s A button sticks and remains depressed after about a weeks worth of use playing things like mega man X.I do not recommend this product as it is made with cheap materials and sub-par quality assurance.

PROS:They look really good.Great price.Fast shipping, though arrived a day late.Plug and play with my Raspberry Pi 3 and Retropie 4.1.CONS:The USB cord is very, very short.The game pads feel very light and cheap.There is a slight input lag that makes some classic platformer style games nearly impossible to enjoy.SUMMARY:Good game pads if you don’t mind buying extra USB extension cables and can deal with a little input lag. Would work well sitting at your PC.I cannot rate any higher due to my experience with them, I would not buy them again.Update Jan 12, 2018: The seller shipped me two new controllers for free. After a few hours of play time the new controllers seem to be much more responsive. I played through Batman for NES, a game with zero forgiveness for input lag. Good product, great customer support.

These controllers were perfectly fine for the price. The D-pad is not the most precise so it makes the execution of precision-combos more difficult for fighting games but won’t cause any grief, however, for platforming games. Otherwise, the buttons work and the response time is no worse than using high-dollar console controllers (Think PS or XBOX), latency issues are more likely to be from the actual emulation than the controllers. The build-quality is average with some plastic rubbing sounds but, the cables are sturdy and long enough. You can definitely buy a better SNES-style controller elsewhere on amazon but you have to spend more money. As they say though, you get what you pay for and that goes for this product as well. I am still satisfied though as it fulfills my needs perfectly for the types of games I play and everything works. The price to quality ratio is just right especially considering you get two controllers. If you must have the most precise controller possible for fighting games, spend more. Otherwise these will do just fine. If I were comparing it directly against competing products I would give it 3 stars but in terms of personal satisfaction, I give it 4.

As many others have complained and mentioned before, I too experience the D-pads to stick. Sometimes you may press Left or Right on the D-Pad and the Down button gets stuck and then you scroll all the way down on a menu. Or even sometimes during game play the same thing will occur.The D-Pad is not snug within the controller and is able to move around. This is probably what is causing this issue.The other buttons seem to be working and responding as they should. I connected the controller to a Raspberry Pi and it was responsive right away.Update: After my initial review, customer service contacted me because they were sad to see my defective controllers. They sent me two new controllers free of charge in order to have better customer satisfaction, and it worked.The new controllers (this time with the multi color buttons) are of the same make, work absolutely fine. I just plugged them to the Pi and right away the system recognized the inputs and I was able to play. The D-Pad is more snug for the newer remotes and the buttons seem to be more responsive due to a tighter fit.Overall I recommend these controllers, no remote input required, they have great customer service. I even ordered some other products from the same supplier because of this.
