Love these pens! They work great!
I have been using these pens for writing on my calendar and taking notes in my notebook, writing grocery lists and checks. They have ink that flows just right and steel ball tips and write very well. Ocassionally I have a skip or two, but think it might be my finger oils getting on the paper, or paper that is coated with a thin plastic film. For nearly all of my writing, they are smooth and I recommend them for people who need a good ink that doesn’t smear or run and works as it should, every time.

DEFINITELY PERMANENT INK TO REDUCE CHECK FRAUD
Like many reviewers, I read the AARP article regarding check fraud. I had assumed that the black Sharpie permanent marker I had previously used was safe for check writing since the ink penetrated the check and could even be seen on the back of the check. Even the Bic ballpoint pen seemed secure. When I received this pen, I used it as well as the Sharpie permanent marker and the Bic ballpoint pen and wrote with each on a bank check. Then I used acetone which totally removed the ink from the Sharpie and the Bic. Once the check dried, it could have been used again for fraudulent purposes. The ink from this pen – Pentel EnerGel Pro Permanent Gel Ink Pen – could not be removed with acetone, clorox or water.The pen is also easy to use. Normally I use an extra fine point pen since my writing is very delicate. I had no problem writing or printing with this pen. Highly recommend.

Hope they help check safety too. I must add that quality issues did arise, and second purchase pens were inconsistent ink flow and skipping. Will continue to use in hopes I just purchased one bad pack.

Protects against Theft
These pens are great for writing something that you do not want to damage or erase. They are good for check writing, scrapbooking, and photographs. The dry quickly and do not smear.

Pentel Energel Pro vs. Uniball Signo 207+
Pentel Energel Pro vs Uniball Signo 207+Comfort: The Energel is a little beefier than the 207, barrel and length wise, but the 207 grip is bigger and squishier, though the texture of the grip on the Energel feels nice. The curvature of the 207 feels alot more natural than the straight barrel of the Energel, topped off with the bigger squishier grip, i give this point to the 207+Design & Build Quality: The Energel feels a little heavier and more robust than the 207 and has a gloss finish. Although the 207’s walls feel a little thinner than the Energel’s thick solid plastic i find the matte finish to look a little more premium it makes it where you cant tell its plastic off sight alone like you can with the Energel, and the big fat bar code on the side of the Energel isnt too flattering either. The 207 also has a metal clip which is where the Energel really cheaped out on with a hollow backed plastic clip which if youre like me and break clips all the time youll really appreciate that about the 207. And lastly the Energel is not openable or refillable which was really disappointing for a pen of this price point. Another point for the 207+(The energel does have a more satisfying ‘click’ though if that matters to you)Writing: This one was tough as they are both top of the line when it comes to gel pens, but i do feel like the Energel’s inkflow feels a little smoother than the 207 and the ink is much darker and bolder (on both blue and black models) but there is something about the 207 when your pen glides across the paper its like you can feel the ball tip rolling when you write which gives a more responsive and precise feel. With that being said, i asked others to try both and tell me which writes smoother and it was unanimously the Energel Pro and in terms of smoothness and what the ink looks like on paper id have to agree so this one goes to the Energel ProOverall you really cant go wrong with either of these pens if youre looking for the smoothest boldest gel pen you can find id go with the Energel Pro. If youre just looking for a sleek comfortable daily writer thats smooth but still really responsive id go with the 207+

Writing is unpleasant
I bought these as an archive pen of sorts. I am writing recipes for friends and family (and myself) and wanted a waterproof pen that wouldn’t fade through time. These are supposed to contain pigments which are compounds that won’t fade. For this purpose, I can’t rate them yet.However, this pen straight out of the box writes as though its an old rollerball pen, but not a gel pen. It writes solid lines when you scribble, but when you write words it randomly cuts the flow of ink to the paper. This leaves your writing quality very poor. Its like a dirty or dry pen… except it is brand new out of the box on brand new notecards.I have used Pilot “Precise V5” pens and love the solid, vivid lines it produces. I also like the feeling of how it writes. I don’t however like that they tend to leak right at the tip of the pen where your fingers rest.I have used Pilot “G2 Gel” pens and love those. They again have vivid black ink and a smooth writing experience. They don’t however lay claim to fade resistance.Recently I tried Sharpie’s new “S Gel” pens which are sleek, write vivid black and smooth. Again, however, they do not claim to be fade resistant.2 stars for now… on principle alone. I can’t test the reason’s I bought this pen just yet, but as far as quality and writing experience goes, worst of the 4 listed by far. Expect an update eventually.
