I love these pens. They make my notes look so pretty and i love how fine they are and don’t smudge a lot. They last me for a while even when i write a ton for my college classes. This is definitely a repeat purchase.

Not all created equal – get Japan version if possible
The Pentel Energel 0.5 mm is definitely my favorite pen at this time – the fine tip write a consistent thin line and is the best gel pen I have used with regards to smearing, either with my hand rubbing on the fresh ink or with highlighting written text, which I do quite often. Also, the writing is typically very smooth, not scratchy like many other fine point pens.My main complaint is the RTX shell, specifically the shells made in Mexico instead of Japan. Both use Pentel ink made in Japan, and at first glance they look almost exactly the same. But in use I’ve had several pens where the shell doesn’t remain on tightly, and two where the shell cracked – and in all these case it was the Made in Mexico shell. Pentel needs to increase their quality control for their RTX shells made in Mexico – but until then purchase the Made in Japan pens if possible.
