I’m a bit of a pen snob, as I’m assuming anyone else leaving a review on a pen is as well. I don’t know why I am, but something annoys me about having a bad pen or not having a specific pen for a specific situation. If I’m writing on cardstock, I like to have coloured sharpie pens. If I’m revising, I like to have a bit of a scratchy feeling on the paper but can’t use a sharpie pen because it will undoubtedly leak through, so I use a ball point pen. I’ve always been like this, and thus, I’ve always felt a void in my pen life. I’ve always been pissing the perfect pen for every day use. I’ve gotten close on a few occasions. I’m quite fond of the Bic Grip Roller pens, because of how smoothly they write and the way the ink looks when it’s flowing from pen to paper, but there was something missing.One day I was preparing to sign and date an IV when I realized my badge must have come off at the nurses’s station. I asked the nearest person for a pen, and someone gladly handed me one of these Pentel EnerGel Deluxe pens. I noticed immediately, even on tape, how smoothly and boldly and continuously this pen wrote. I remembered the name and bought myself a set the next day. This pen is my every day pen. Every other pen I have ever bought seems lacking compared to these. The colours are beautiful and vibrant on any colour paper and most textures. They dry surprisingly quickly. Because of how shiny the writing is, you might be hesitant to wipe your hand across the surface, but try it. Chances are that by the time you’re finished writing, the ink has already dried.Furthermore, it doesn’t leak nearly as much as you’d expect. It has a metal tip, which you can’t control as well as a needle tip, but as long as you don’t stab the point to the paper, you won’t leak through to the other side. The ink feels like it wants to come out of the pen, so pushing it lightly up against the paper gives you perfect control and a perfectly steady stream. Once you get used to barely touching the paper with this pen, you’ll soon realize how much this speeds along the process. If you do a lot of manual writing, your wrist will cramp less, your hands will get less tired, and it’ll feel like you’re waving your hand through the air rather than putting pen to paper.These pens are incredible. Once you use them, you will never want to use another pen regularly again. The ink, the feel, the colours, etc. All of it is perfection. And Amazon has them at a great price. So if you’re a pen snob like I am (or just tired of your ink leaking, your wrist cramping, or having to cap and recap a pen), try these out. You will not regret it.

Love these pens!
I have been using these pens for years now, and don’t like to use anything else. If I lend one to someone else at work, I always have to keep a close eye on it because everyone loves the way they feel and write so much that they don’t want to give them back! They write very smoothly and evenly. I have never had any trouble with ink not coming out or writing unevenly (unless the cartridge is almost out of ink). I have only had problems with blotching a few times in all my years of daily use, and I think those were due to faulty ink cartridges. I like the medium tip the best- 0.7mm- (I tried a finer tip once and didn’t like the way it looked as much). The weight of the pens in my hand is what I consider about a medium weight- they aren’t heavy like a fancy metal pen, but it also doesn’t feel like you’re writing with a feather. I like the feel of the grip, and it makes writing nice and comfortable. I also appreciate the clip on the end of the pen, as I like to clip these onto my pocket at work. The clip is metal and quite sturdy- I have never had any issues with it breaking or coming off. Before you start writing with these, there is a tiny dot of something like dried glue on the tip of the pen that you need to remove- I assume this is there to help keep the ink fresh. I only buy these pens every few years and buy ink refills in the meantime when they run out of ink Pentel Refill Ink for BL57/BL77 EnerGel Liquid Gel Pen, Box of 12, 0.7mm, Metal Tip, Black Ink (LR7-A-12) . After a while I do need to buy new pens, as they start to crack where the two halves of the pen screw together and so have a tendency to fall apart when you’re writing with them. But again, this is after constant daily use for a few years time. I highly recommend these pens, but warn that after trying these you may not want to use any other pens ever again!
