Excellent expansion for a computer that is already maxed out
This has done exactly what I had hoped it would do — provide high speed external storage for my laptop which can’t be expanded beyond the SSD capacity it already has.I’m a musician with some very large sound libraries which I have moved to this SanDisk 4TB external drive. When working with sound libraries there is a huge data flow that has to be extremely fast and this drive does the job excellently!I have some different brand external SSDs of smaller capacity which for some reason my Windows11 laptop loses contact with (even though they’re plugged in and stationary) and they’re constantly re-connecting which makes them unusable for musical work. But not this unit — it remains solidly connected to my laptop which makes it excellent for my needs. Video transfers are extremely fast as is any audio transfer (mp3 or wav files).It’s an extremely valuable add-on for me and will be a welcome addition to anybody working with music and I suspect also working with video, although since I don’t work with video I can’t speak from experience. But the extremely fast data transfer makes me think it will be great for video, too.I do have videos stored on this external drive and watching the video is no problem, no delays, no interruptions.

Perfect for what I needed
I personally got the 2TB variation and it is exactly what I was looking for.My plan for the storage device is to act as somewhat of a Doomsday type backup. In the event of something happening, I wanted to have a last resort backup of all my data that I can keep in my every day carry bag (and as part of following good data backup practices. If you aren’t already, I recommend following the 3-2-1 rule of data storage). Because of this, I was looking for 4 things.The first two things I was looking for was portability and capacity. This device fits both of those for me. It is 2 TBs in the size of roughly a credit card. Makes it super easy to backup to and leave in my backpack. The size the device itself is a huge selling point for me since my bag is constantly packed with work/personal tech items since I work in IT/Networking/Penetration Testing. I also really appreciated how the device came with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A adapter. It may seem like a small and insignificant thing, but makes it easier for all users regardless of their computer’s IO setup.The third thing I was looking for was its ease of use across platforms (mainly Mac and Windows/Linux). When I looked at reviews for this device previously, I had noticed a few reviews saying that they ran into issues with using it for storage on both Mac and Windows. This is big for me since I use a Mac for work and my personal laptop. Then I use a Windows desktop at home. Because of this, I naturally will use the device as a backup for both OS’s. However, this was not an issue for me. So far, it has worked perfectly well for loading files on both OS’s.The fourth thing I was looking for when selecting a product was security and encryption. Because of my jobs, I am very self conscious of data security. This is especially so for my last resort backup since I keep it in my bag that I carry everywhere. The encryption was super easy to setup. It would be nice if they didn’t cap the encryption key to 25 characters, but that is fine. I popped the device into my desktop and opened the encryption setup and was all set within a minute. I didn’t have any issues with unlocking the device when using either OS. The device has a small program for both Mac and Windows (I haven’t tried it on a Linux machine yet but i assume it would be fine on there) that you launch on your respective device and it opens a tab to input the key.Overall, I would definitely highly recommend this product. Only caveat I would have is its standard price (especially for the 2TB variant). I was able to get it at a considerable discount during Prime Day. If you are budget minded/looking for a deal and don’t need this type of storage solution right away, I would probably recommend waiting for it to be cheaper. But if you have a need right now that this device fits, then go for it.Naturally, I have yet to see how it holds up over time. Since it is an SSD, I don’t expect it to die on me anytime soon but that can occasionally happen. TBD on that one.

Super fast! Usb-c cord is terrible
Love how fast it uploads media. However, the usb-c cord is so flimsy and the tip got bent a few weeks after getting it. Now it disconnects from my laptop frequently when slightly touched or moved. I was pretty disappointed with that so I gave a 4 star instead of an otherwise 5 star product like this harddrive

Compact and durable!
Looking for a backup device for photos files that is easy to travel with and is durable. This fits the requirements. I purchased the 1TB version. I use it to backup photos from my Canon R5 flash card files until i can store them on the servers when I return home. The storage unit work with USB-C and comes with a adapter for USB-A. The transfer rates are fast. The unit seems well built and very durable which is a must for traveling.

Good but doesn’t work with one of my TVs
I bought this to replace an older Crucial 2TB SSD. The specs seemed perfect. However, it just does not play well with my Sony 65″ A80J. I have 100gb of movies on it and it just keeps freezing/locking up. It will work a bit and then freeze again. The Crucial, with the same movies on it, works perfectly.However, it works perfectly on my Sony 55″ A90K. No idea why it works well with one but not the other.So, five stars, as it clearly is an issue with the TV, not the drive.
