Almost forget it’s an external drive
Rather than wait months for a custom build, I purchased a renewed Mac Studio from Apple with a 512GB drive. This drive completely fulfills my storage needs and is more than fast enough. It tested just above 2,550 r/w on an APFS encrypted partition.I can’t fault the drive but feel this should be mentioned: I thought I had a DOA unit at first because it would not show up in Drive Utility. I tried changing ports, cables, and even going back to regular USB 3… no errors, no drive, nothing but the white LED on the front. I then unplugged my other Thunderbolt ports, connected just the drive with it’s cable and it popped right up. Reconnected everything else and partitioned/formatted the drive… no further issues.

Amazing Speed
When I did a side-by-side test of the SanDisk 1TB G Drive with my regular USB Drive, the speed shocked me. I knew it would be faster but not by as much as I saw. I copied a 110 GB File and the USB drive would have taken 45 minutes. This drive copied it in 47 seconds.

Very rugged and portable
This 2 TB external hard drive was very easy to setup. The case is very rugged and is easy to carry around. I use it as a backup for my iMac.

Great until it’s not.
This was a fantastic drive for 2 years until it just decided not to mount. I had it backed up but this is always upsetting when this happens.

Real Fast reliable drive from SanDisk
Excellent fast drive from my sound library for use with music production. I got about 2400 MB/s read and 2000 MB/s write with AFS encrypted (which should slow down things a bit to encrypt/decrypt). Which is close to my internal drive on my 2019 Macbook Pro.Pros:- Very fast drive- Elegant look- Solid TB 3 wire to the computerCons:- A bit bulky- Lost the nice drive icon after formatting with AFS encryptedWith M.2 SSD became faster and available at 7000 MB/s I was looking for an enclosure that uses Thunderbolt to get that speed for an external drive. All I found was unreliable enclosures claiming reaching 40 GB/s speed, but reviews were not that great. Till I found this drive from SanDisk and another one from Samsung that was not available in stock at the time. I took the risk trusting SanDisk, and I’m very happy with the purchase.

Not impressed for the money at allâ¦
I expected from the reviews that I could run 4K footage off this Ssd drive and edit it in real time⦠what I bought it for. But I edit on davinci resolve and it still lags hard when editing, unless there is something I havenât done for the performance to get better. It says the it can handle 8k footage fine but yet 4K braw footage is having problems. 🙁

Sandisk external hard disk professional 500 GB
Please do not buy this. These are defective. Most of these items are returned to the manufacture. I spent two weeks of my time to figure out what is wrong with this product. Finally, the Sandisk representative asked me to return this as defective for refund.

Si

This one drive will be faster than your systemâs built in SSD if it is a 256GB or less. I tried duplicating video files and moving things around and the speed is very impressive. Itâs a faster SSD than my own MacBook Pro M1 with 256GB.

Blazing fast and i think i’m the first person to purchase this on Amazon India. Got it for just 20k during the Prime Day deal. I was very lucky and thanks to Amazon for the quick delivery. I’m using this for my M1 Mac Mini, it heats up during intense video editing, but cools off quickly as well. Overall, very happy with it.
