    Love it
Perfect companion to our Sonos system. Amazing sound and bass quality from such a small speaker. The ability to connect to our Sonos system for the patio or Bluetooth for road trips and camping is awesome. One complaint is that I was charging it in the house while we were using our Sonos beam on the TV and it kept Turing on and causing a weird echo. I had to disconnect it from the charger in order for it to stay off.

    Wonderful!
Sonos has top-tier sound quality and the Roam 2 is no exception! It’s a beautifully designed compact device with clear and powerful sound quality. I personally enjoy having Airplay 2 along with Bluetooth as separate options. The sound it creates fills up a room easily. Crystal clear amazing sound as well, 100 percent recommended!

    Underwhelming performance
So, the positives right up front. Very small and portable. Simplistic but stylish. Easy to use and setup. Love the dedicated Bluetooth. Comes well packaged from Sonos. Very small and for its size, puts out good volume. Now the potential cons. I have a Sonos Arc and the Sonos Move (1st Gen). Got them both for a great sale price and the sound quality never ceases to impress me. Especially the Move, which even at very high volumes plays great music from rock, country and rap. I bought the roam to be more portable than my Move, which I use on the deck, poolside or at small gatherings. The Roam was more for hiking, beach trips and casual listening washing the car, etc. I have to say I am not impressed. It sounds decent at its highest volume although you can tell you’ve reached its limit. I never feel like any of my other Sonos products have hit a limit even at 100% volume. It also sounds almost flat and very mono sounding vs steep or simulated stereo. Worse, it’s okay with rock or country or anything that has very little bass, but don’t try and play any kind of rap or hip hip. The bass is almost non-existent and really makes it feel like you’re pushing the speakers beyond their capabilities.Granted, most small portable like this would have similar issues, but when I listen to my sons JBL Flip 5, which costs less than half the price, I feel like the bass is much richer and the sound is louder, but of relatively similar quality as the Sonos, which is very disappointing. Maybe I’m missing the mark on its intended use, but I don’t think so. For small sound and high portability, it’s okay, but feels overpriced when compared to a couple others for what it offers.Would have considered a slightly larger roam in its 2nd generation for larger speakers or drivers or a dedicated bass port. I’ll have to sample it for a while and along others. I’m on the fence keeping it vs returning it. I’ll update my decision later.UPDATE: okay, after using it down at the beach, I would have to say my opinion has changed some. While I still would like a bit more volume, it’s pretty good for small spaces and close to me or around the pool or campfire. Sound has grown on me for most music and I recognize what it is for its ultra portability. Battery life is good and it’s been easy to pair. Loud enough to enjoy, but not so loud as to annoy others around me at the beach. I bought it at full price for $179. If you wait for Prime Day or other major sales days, it drops to $143, which is a much more reasonable price where it’s worth it.

This is a great little speaker!
This little speaker is great! It sounds surprisingly good for its size, and its ability to use wifi or bluetooth is surprisingly useful. I love wifi speakers because of the range and ease of connecting devices, but when you need to take it somewhere else, the bluetooth is necessary. I mostly use my Roam in the house, but I also took it on vacation a few times to the beach and it was perfect. I mostly bought this speaker to test the waters with the Sonos ecosystem, and I’m excited to say that I’ll be getting more in the coming years (my wallet is significantly less excited).

    No Sonos! Bad dog!
So, if you don’t have any Sonos speakers…stay away from starting the Sonos journey. The only issue and thing that kills all the good things about this brand of products is its terrible connectivity. What I mean is the Bluetooth process is awful – can’t ever hook up this Roam 2! WTH?! It also applies to Sonos Five – it doesn’t link to my Apple Music app.For a brand that’s supposed to be quality, they really shoot themselves in the foot by making the use of their products so difficult. Just go with another brand that has good Bluetooth and can hookup to everything.

A very versatile and useful and excellent speaker
We have an existing Sonos system, and we needed the Roam 2 to take outside or sit unobtrusively in an upstairs hallway. It is so highly portable, with great sound!Sonos has had some negative press about its app interface, but we never had any problem with it – in fact, the app continues to be a great way to manage all the streaming music services and saved songlists that we have.Connecting this Roam 2 to our existing system was incredibly simply, a definite step up from the connection gymnastics of the earlier Sonos days. When the Roam was turned on, our system recognized it, and immediately the speaker went to the naming it option and through a brief tuning itself to our space. It probably took no more than 5 minutes, less time than it did to take the speaker out of its attractive box.

Too many limitations on what they let you listen to
If you’re a musician who wants to hear your own recordings during the mixing process, that’s too bad. These speakers don’t allow you to play “local files”. They also don’t work with spotify DJ. Not only does the dj voice not come through, it won’t shuffle between genres. You would think that high end speakers would work seamlessly with the number one music streaming service, but that’s not the case. Making every speaker the same volume isn’t as simple as it should be, you have to start each session by leveling them out individually. Then, when using the volume bar on the side of your phone, you have to press it around 7-10 times before there is any noticeable difference. They do sound good, but the limitations are very frustrating.

    Great sound
Beautiful sound, easy to connect, portable speaker. Most evenings find me outside, listening to my favorites, with a glass of wine. Fully charged this speaker will last an evening or two. I would highly recommend purchasing.

I have a large Sonos setup spanning three floors of my townhouse, and despite the temporary app issues this summer, I remain a huge fan of the brand for their exceptional sound quality and seamless integration. When I decided to get a portable speaker for travel and garden use, the Sonos Roam 2 was the perfect choice—it fits right into my existing system. After debating whether to get one or two for a stereo pair, I opted for just one, and I’m not disappointed. The sound is incredible for its size, delivering crisp treble and impressively deep bass. The design is compact yet powerful, and it’s a marvel of engineering.I also love the convenience features: the Roam 2 works with any standard wireless charger and can connect to whatever’s playing in your location when you move rooms. It’s perfect for extending your music experience seamlessly.Buying this during Black Friday made it an even better value, with the price being comparable to other high-quality portable speakers. For anyone already in the Sonos ecosystem—or even looking for a standalone Bluetooth speaker—you won’t regret getting the Roam 2!
