Worth every penny
I originally bought a TCL sound bar that didn’t work out so well, I decided to spend a bit more and get this one. My dad has a Sony sound bar and sub for a few years now . It’s the model below this one and he’s never had a problem with it. This sound bar does offer Bluetooth but I decided to run an optical connection instead. I have it connected to my BenQ Ht 3550 projector that doesn’t have the ARC HDMI. The optical input works just fine. I love the remote because it allows you to play with different sounds and it also allows you to adjust the bass which is very nice also. I think it sounds great and would fit a rather large living room as mine does. I can’t turn it up all the way . It does get very loud and the bass thumps . I do have a Klipsch 9.1 but it’s in storage and this is much easier to set up and take down when I’m ready to change.

Pretty Good for Full Price, Great for Amazon Warehouse Price
I looked at a lesser version of this at Costco that wasn’t much cheaper and didn’t get very good reviews. This item was a little more expensive, but had great reviews. When there was an open box unit available at Amazon Warehouse for less than half of the regular price, I ordered it immediately. Set up was pretty easy, though the open box unit was missing the optical cable that was supposed to be included. Once it was all hooked up and the setting changed within the TV, it worked just fine. It turns on/off when the TV does, and the regular volume controls for the TV remote control it as well. After the initial setup, I haven’t needed the included remote control. The sound is certainly an upgrade from the regular TV speakers, and the bass can thump pretty hard when asked to. Does it sound as good as a higher end unit, of course not, but it’s fine for daily use in our family room. Two little gripes. The volume is slow to respond…it takes holding the volume button down for a bit to get it have any noticeable change in the volume. Also, there is some weird “feature” that if the volume is pressed too many times in a row quickly, the volume will go up to max or min (depending) all on its own…which can be deafening. I should probably read the manual about this… Anyway, for the warehouse price, I’m thrilled with this purchase.

Living room turned home theater
I love this sound bar. I have it hooked up to a Sony tv using an HDMI ARC cable and the compatibility is amazing. One of the things I looked for in a sound bar is clear audios, especially for movies that the music overpowers the dialogue. There are times where it feels like the sound is a little cheap but I want to blame that more on what Iâm watching/playing. Otherwise, the sound is so crisp my neighbors could watch my TV from my window and still hear everything if I have it loud enough. Iâve only had an issue with connectivity once but it was an easy fix once you get to know the system; a short nuisance if anything. I barely use the remote control since I control everything from my TV remote, but I do find it nice that I can use the sound bar remote to adjust the bass. I did get the speaker on sale, but I feel like itâs been worth every penny so far.

Sony plus Sony does not equal excellence
I was previously using a TCL soundbar and subwoofer which started to not turn on half the time I would start up the tv, so decided to finally part ways. I purchased this one because it has good reviews and I recently got a Sony Bravia TV. I thought keeping it in the family must be the best path. Well I was wrong. The sound quality of this bar is barely half of what my cheap TCL was. It sounds like a boombox. The speakers built into my laptop might be better. Watching movies, playing games, listening to music⦠itâs all much less enjoyable now. Thereâs also a lag when adjusting the volume. Itâs enough to make it really annoying. I will be shopping around for something else.

Good sound bar
I love this sound bar. It isn’t super large and fits nicely between TV legs.

Great Sound Quality, But Some Minor Limitations
I recently purchased the Sony HT-S400 soundbar to replace my old Sony soundbar, which had started to experience issues with low volume playback. Overall, I am pleased with the upgrade, as the HT-S400 offers significantly better sound quality and bass. However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks that I would like to highlight.Let’s start with the positives. The sound quality produced by this soundbar is impressive. Whether I’m watching movies, listening to music, or playing games, the audio is clear, immersive, and rich in detail. The bass response is particularly noteworthy, delivering deep and powerful lows that enhance the overall listening experience. Additionally, the build quality of the product is excellent, reflecting Sony’s commitment to durability and aesthetics. However, there is one recurring issue that I’ve noticed with this soundbar, which is similar to my previous Sony model. When the volume is set at a low level, the sound tends to shake or become distorted. It’s unfortunate that Sony hasn’t been able to perfect this aspect, as it can be a bit frustrating when trying to enjoy quieter moments in movies or music. Nevertheless, if you primarily listen to audio at moderate to high volumes, this issue is unlikely to be a significant concern.Another aspect worth mentioning is the Bluetooth range of the soundbar. While it works flawlessly within a reasonable proximity, I have experienced some skipping and interruptions when I move too far away in my 500 sq foot studio. It would have been preferable if the Bluetooth range was more extensive, allowing for seamless connectivity throughout the entire space. However, this limitation can be easily mitigated by keeping your device closer to the soundbar. In conclusion, the Sony HT-S400 soundbar offers excellent sound quality, impressive bass, and a solid build. Despite some drawbacks related to low volume performance and Bluetooth range, I am overall pleased with the product. If you primarily use the soundbar at moderate to high volumes and don’t require long-range Bluetooth connectivity, this is a great choice for enhancing your audio experience. Sony has almost perfected the product, and with a few minor improvements, it could easily become a top-tier soundbar in its category.

I have tried this in croma and compared with all available soundbars (JBL, Samsung, Croma, Boat etc) but in this everything is just perfect. We have -+ bass settings in remote. No need to connect woofer from soundbar with wire as you can place them anywhere you want separately. Many features are there but the best one is sound+bass quality, it’s seriously next level.
Keyboard not working the mouse it’s ok. Try change battery still won’t work. –
