Great lights. 5000k is too blue, 4000k is good for a workspace.
I originally thought I’d get the 5000k because I like white things, but I was wrong. 5000k was too blue. After getting the 4000k, though I was super happy. The lamp is an incandescent for comparison. When I want a homey mood I turn off the recessed lights, but when I want to work the recessed lights are perfect.First, these are really easy to install. It’s totally do-able to chain these along, with the romex going in one knockout, romex going out the other knockout, and connected to the light with the supplied wire nuts. It’s a bit of a tight fit in the box, but it works. After it’s wired in and the box is tucked away, it was easy to use the supplied template to cut a hole in the drywall, though I’d suggest cutting on the outside of the line instead of inside. It was a pretty tight fit when I did it. With the hole cut, you find the box (hopefully you measured everything right and marked the right spots when you did all your drywall and paint), and plug the light into the connector, then fold the springs back and slide it up into the hole. The springs are super strong and there’s no issue with it holding the light tightly against the wall (I used 5/8″ drywall).The string of lights works great with my Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi 600W Dimmer. For the most part I usually keep the brightness around 30%. All the way to 100% is pretty intense, though I may have gone a little too dense (roughly 6′ spacing between all the lights).I was a little worried that there’s be some whine or buzz from a transformer or capacitor doing voltage switching, but these things are perfectly silent.Inspection was a breeze. For rough-in I routed and stapled all the wire with uncut loops where the lights would be, and wired up a practice box with spare wire to show the inspector. He was interested in these ultra-thin lights because he hadn’t seen them before, but was satisfied. Then for final inspection he never looked at the final wiring and only made sure the dimmer worked correctly.

I don’t leave reviews for a lot of items I buy but I’ve been so pleased with these lights that I felt the need to. I have installed about 30 of these throughout my house (living room, bedrooms, office, garage, kitchen, hallway) and they are awesome. They are a massive upgrade from the existing fixtures I had, especially when considering the cost and time to install. They are extremely bright so make sure you install with a dimmer to get the desired lighting (I used the Lutron DVWCL-153PH-WH, White). For example, I installed 8 in my living room which has 8′ ceilings and is 14’x18′. I spaced each light about 4.5′ apart and I dim them down to about 75% for everyday use. In my opinion 3000k is the only color suitable for indoors, 2700k is too yellow and 4000k+ is too white (best for the garage). Whatever suits your taste, just make sure you buy all the same color throughout the house for a clean, uniform look.The specs state you only need a 6.02″ ceiling opening. When I measured one of the backs before I made my first cut, it was more like 6.25″. I’ve cut all my holes to 6.25″ and these lights still have a snug fit with no gaps. I love that they are rated for contact with insulation. I had a few existing traditional canned lights in the kitchen that required a thermal barrier which I always ran into when moving around the attic, forcing me to fish out the blow-in insulation that inevitably found it’s way into contact with the fixture.I would buy these again and would recommend them to anybody looking for a quality light that is reasonably priced and easy to install. I’ll upload pictures in the next few days.

Easy install, nice warm light at a good price
This is the first time using this product. Reading through the reviews, I had some concern about the clips not being strong enough to hold the light tightly against the drywall. It was a non-issue as the springs held the unit in place and tight against drywall. The installation was simple. Only small gripe was the junction box didn’t have push-in connectors, but wiring nuts were supplied, which was fine. I bought the warm light version. Excellent color and plenty of lumens. A slight hum when dimming the lights low which is to be expected. Only negative was if you dim the lights low and then turn off, they will not turn back on at that low level. You simply increase the dimmer and they come to life. Not a big deal, but something I thought should be mentioned. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. I will use these at other projects where IC rating is not required.

Slim and Bright!
I just installed these lights last week am pleased with their brightness. They are super thin which is great for installing these lights in a tight area where a full sized recessed light might not have room. They install very easily. My only complaint would be the size of the box provided to house the actual electrical connections from your power source (Breaker Box) and then continuing on from one light to the next. Trying to connect the incoming wiring, outgoing wiring and the actual wires for the light itself with wire nuts and put all of that in the little box proved to be frustrating. I am no electrician, just a homeowner and DIYer, so perhaps a professional wouldn’t have an issue with doing this. I just know for me, that once two additional sets of ground, neutral and hot wires are in the box, along with adding clamp connectors where the punch out holes are, and adding wire nuts to each run, that it was extremely difficult to maneuver all the wires around so that the box would actually shut. Forcing the wires in the small box causes the box to bend and not want to stay securely shut. I have not had that same experience when using regular recessed lighting, especially the ones with quick connect. Anyway, all in all I am happy with the lights. I just hope they actually live up to the advertised life expectancy.
