The YDP-184 is the most advanced Arius digital piano from Yamaha ever made. The re-designed interface lets you browse the 24 instrument Voices with ease with a shortcut to the world-class CFX concert grand piano. New to the Arius line Series, you’ll experience the sound of the stereophonic optimizer which creates a realistic sense of spaciousness when listening via headphones. You can enjoy the realism of Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), and high-quality digital effects through the on-board stereo speaker system. Play along with built-in rhythm patterns and record your performances using the built-in MIDI recorder. And with over a century of acoustic piano manufacturing heritage, it only makes sense that the best digital pianos come from Yamaha.
The CFX Premium Grand Piano Voice recreates the power and tone of Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand piano
Graded Hammer 3 action (GH3) with synthetic ivory key tops add a tactile surface to the white keys, which absorbs finger moisture and prevents slipping
Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) allows for vivid and richly varied expression to reflect the limitless number of factors that create the sound of a concert grand piano
Full dot LCD display allows for smooth navigation of the instrument’s features and functions
Includes a padded bench, music stand, power supply and sheet music book. Number of Polyphony (Max.): 128
Pedaling provides an added level of realism. Half-damper pedal control creates more detailed nuance and sublety when playing, similiar to pedaling on a grand piano
MIDI recording function allows you to record performances. Record up to 16 tracks for simultaneous playback.
Stereophonic Optimizer – a new kind of headphone experience

    Spectacular!
I’ve waited most of my years for the opportunity to sit at a grand piano, but the chances always seemed to elude me.Purchasing the real thing was certainly out of the question, not only because of the price, but because I live in a small apartment.Yamaha to the rescue! Somehow, someway, they managed to squeeze a 9-foot concert grand into this space-saving unit, and I am completely amazed by the tone and clarity it produces. This YDP-103 model is one of the least expensive of Yamaha’s line of instruments, but I can’t imagine the realistic sound being any better. Possibly when you pay more for other models you’re getting more furniture supporting and surrounding the keyboard, but I don’t think my ears would be able to tell the difference in the actual quality of tone.It arrived well-packed, and was quite easy to assemble. I’m still discovering its many functions, and I expect that to be an enjoyable learning process. In the meantime, if the only sound it ever produced was the authentic beauty of a masterfully crafted 9-foot concert grand, it would still be more than worth the money. This is simply one of the best purchases I’ve ever made in my life! Now, if I could only play like Rachmaninoff…

    Very Happy!
After having to scrap our old piano (it was my sister’s which made it difficult to part with) I decided to opt for the digital Yamaha and am thrilled with it. I was concerned about possible damage because there were a couple good holes in the outer box, but it was protected by inner packing. NO DAMAGE! Great packaging. Took a little while to assemble the piano but we couldn’t be happier. Two people were able to easily lift the top and assemble it with no difficulty. The case is a nice rosewood coloring, clean lines, solid. The electronics were very simple to assemble. Love the key cover, pedals are well supported. The key action is just like a “real” piano and I absolutely love playing it. The various “sounds” are perfect, even have your very own choir, perfect! I did purchase headphones so now every member of the family can play, plink, learn, without disturbing. We love the piano. Yamaha, you continue to amaze. Thank you!

    Plays beautifully
It looks beautiful and plays beautifully.I was a little concerned about how the speakers would sound but it sounds gorgeous as well.I think labeling this a beginners piano is misleading. Worth every penny !Can’t wait to try the recording part of this instrument

Rich sound, weighted keys, beautiful piece of furniture.
This is the best keyboard I have ever owned. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture in my living room, too. Keyboard cover is great. There are a lot of options , you can adjust every little detail you can imagine. The interface is pretty intuitive, and it has incredible reverb. I play the piano for pleasure and have had other Yamaha keyboards in the past, but this one is in a league of its own. It’s incredible, once you play this thing, you’re never want to go back to a previous keyboard!Came in a very large box, I feel as if the ‘size of a small refrigerator’ would be a good way to describe it. It is packaged meticulously well, and nothing arrived damaged. There wasn’t a whole lot of assembly that needed to be done, and the parts that did were very easy to put together. It’s just perfect. I will, however, be hiring someone to move this thing once I move out of my apartment!!

    Quite Pleased
This is a beautiful instrument and it plays beautifully. I like the feel of the keyboard and the accompanying book with the top 50 classical music sheet! Now it’s time to rock and roll …

Great while it works. Horror once it breaks. And breaks it does after 2.5 years.
When it works, I have no complains. Piano plays great and served us well for 2.5 years. All good things come to an end.Unexpectedly, one note started playing at abnormal high volume. A research on web indicates it’s a sensor issue and it needs to be replaced. We called Yamaha who kept us on a line for 15 min. before answering a call. A nasty rep told me that I have to take the piano to one of the stores with which they have an agreement. No in-house service as it doesn’t satisfy their “in-house’ service policy. He told me they don’t care how I get this behemoth of a piano to the shop. Cannot be fixed at home. And the mom-and-pop fixing places they gave me are even funnier. Many of them don’t have personnel right now to fix the piano.Bottom line – do your research. This thing breaks (and I had numerous issues with other Yamaha products) and think what you will do once it breaks. As Yamaha will not be helping you.And one more thing. A person in mom-and-pop shop told me that Yamaha warranty may not be a true warranty. It only applies to manufacturing defects. Otherwise one has to pay out of your own pocket.

    Good budget beginners piano
I bought this as a beginner and it’s a fabulous beginner’s piano. My only issue / complaint is that the tiny pins on the pedal cord broke and I can’t seem to find a replacement cord.Still looking. I love the overall sound though and look of the piano. I also love being able to plug in headphones to play late at night without bothering the neighbors. 🙂
