    Great value for the money
I learned to play a “Chord Organ” many years ago, and later worked on learning a bit about reading music, but never really got to the point where I could easily read standard sheet music. I did learn to play most of the basic chords with my left hand on a standard piano/organ keyboard while playing the melody with one or two fingers of my right hand, but have not really had anything to work with or practice on since I sold a “Thomas” organ back in 1976 so had forgotten most of what I really knew. This Christmas, my wife, knowing that at 82, I really wanted to re-learn a bit of music, especially to be able to play Christmas music in our home this year so she bought me the Yamaha PSR-E283 keyboard as an early Christmas gift. Since receiving it, much of what I knew in the distant past has come back and I have been able to play many of the songs I learned on the old “chord organ”. This keyboard has a lot of nice features but IS designed for beginners. It does, however have a super nice sound and enough features like different instruments, rhythms, etc., that it could easily serve as an inexpensive backup keyboard for many musicians as well. All in all, I really like it and for the money, it’s hard to beat for someone wanting an inexpensive but yet nice sounding keyboard with full sized keys (61 of them) that plays well.

    Excellent for a beginner
It has a solid, quality build and, for a beginner, a real feel for the keys and the sound. By the way, the fact that the instruments synthesize percussion and many instruments means that, as a beginner, I didn’t get bored listening to my mistakes over and over until I mastered the lessons. So, I recommend it for new learners. Lightweight is an asset, but the limited number of keys makes it appear less of a real instrument and more of a toy piano. I opted for the 70+ key version for that reason.

A LOT of keyboard for a ridiculously low price!
If you’re learning, planning to learn, or just want to get your chops back (like I did) but don’t have the money for the higher end Yamahas (they’re worth it, believe me), this keyboard is for you. This is a professional level keyboard and can be used as such. It’s also probably the least expensive Yamaha full-sized keyboard model. But brother, this thing has features and plays like butter for unweighted keys. I love it and so far, it’s all I could need or handle!

    First Impressions
This is my first keyboard and I don’t know much on how to play a piano. So this will be just from a beginners perspective. After looking at a large number of reviews of lots of keyboards and price ranges, I decided on this one. The price and features fit well in this price range.I pulled it out of the box and it is very lightweight. A bit plasticky. I was expecting that but was hoping that I would be surprised. I wasn’t.The speakers are just okay in my opinion. Definitely not bad at this price. But after plugging in my Sony headphones, the tones sound really good. Better than what I was expecting. Keys feel a bit slippery but so far, I haven’t found that to be an issue so far.I didn’t see it in the description, but my keyboard did come with a sustain pedal. I wasn’t expecting that so I had bought another one. There is no bluetooth connectivity to pipe in sounds. So you will have to use the AUX in jack in the back for that. This should become standard now days.I have only had this for a few days now so I can’t really comment on the features at this time. I am just simply trying to learn piano basics right now. But I believe that this should have no problem serving any beginner piano player with good results. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to seriously try and learn how to play. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to play it, but going to give it a serious try at it. Don’t buy the $100 keyboards if you are seriously want to play. They don’t sound nearly as good as this.I had my mind set on the Roland GO:Keys 3 before I found this one. This one sounds almost as good and I do mean ALMOST. And having the extra keys is a bonus.

    The Perfect Christmas Gift
My son loves this keyboard. I’ve been advised on this model by a friend, a pianist, who told me it would be good for entry-level and intermediate. My son got so excited, and it is already playing. Lots of resources and connectivity.

    Hmm
It came fast, and I was excited to play with it. But I noticed the volume on the speakers would increase and decreases spontaneously as I was playing, I also needed to crank the volume to max to be able to actually hear it. Anything lower, and it was barely audible. The sounds are great considering it’s a yamaha, but i can’t add other sounds, no firmware update (probably because it’s newer), and after playing my roland rd-88, this keys on the yamaha are damn slippery! I needed weighted keys. But I love how light it is. I’ll keep playing with it throughout the week to see how it feels, but the low volume, and keys are a bit of a turn off for me. I just wanted something light to put in my bedroom and be able to move around easily. I also found I should have purchased the 61key instead. I don’t like to return things, but the slippery action has me straining my arms to stay on the keyboard. We’ll see….

    Much better than I expected
Just learning to play the piano and decided give this Yamaha keyboard a try.Have only had it for 2 days but, totally pleased with it.Build quality is excellent as is the sound. Now to be honest, it does not havewhat I would consider to be enough output to play live with a group but, sincebasically every group/band I have heard lately has additional amplificationthat’s not a problem. Plenty loud enough for in home or practice. One thing that I did not see mentioned in the product description was that Yamahaincluded the sustain pedal with my unit. Not a huge expense had they not doneso but still a nice touch. Glad I did not order one. Will update in the future if problems occur but, I feel this keyboard is of very high quality andhas a multitude of features, well worth the price for both beginners and seasoned players.

Me encanta, lo uso casi todos los días, lo único que no me gusta es la falta de un manual impreso, sigo sin entender todas sus funciones, cuando escaneo el QR me manda a una pagina de videos pero no a como se usan todas las funciones del teclado
