Fast drive, runs hot
The only troubling thing about this disk is how hot it gets. I worry its going to burn the wooden desk!

Transferred my entire laptop on this thing!
Like the title says, I was able to transfer my entire laptop onto this little device. I decided to sell my gaming laptop to get a full sized desktop gaming rig, and I need to get all my information and files off my laptop. I had forgotten I had this until I was looking for all the cords to my laptop. I was able to transfer everything WITH plenty of room still left over to put more items on the device.The quality of the storage device is really well made, with metal and rubber sides. The design choice is really great. It looks like an otterbox case, honestly. It’s very rugged and will bounce along in my backpack nicely. This storage drive feels very solid, and connected right away without issue. Overall, I’m pleased with it.

Lacks security
This hard drive was easy to use. Just plug and play. The SSD backed up my pictures and files fairly quick. The transfer was done with no errors. My previous hard drive had a unlock passcodes that this one does not. This drive is portable, fast and it suited my needs

Después de dar muchas vueltas me decidí por este disco, por su excelente relación prestaciones/precio. Y la verdad es que de momento no puedo estar más contento. Lo uso con un MacBook Pro M1 y tras formatearlo en APFS se consiguen unas velocidades, tanto en lectura como en escritura entorno a los 3000Mb/s. Tiene una robusta carcasa de aluminio y un protector de goma en el perímetro que dan sensación de resistentes. Viene con una bolsita de tela un tanto estupida, por que solo cabe el disco sin el protector (y no tengo intención de quitárselo nunca) En fin, lo único que me preocupa es su durabilidad, que ya lo iremos viendo. De momento le pongo 5 merecidas estrellas.

I use it as an external boot disk on my Mac Mini with USB 4.0 . Indistinguishable performance versus the internal Macintosh HD. Great value for money, especially compared to Apple internal storage. It runs a little hot but has a silicone collar to facilitate cooling. It claims a 5-year “service” but the grammar of the guarantee is stilted so it is unclear if that means a warranty. Still I would recommend it.

SPEEDI reached 360B/s write speed for selected big files with archlinux on a T480s.At this speed there was no problem with overheating, I am sure that if people reported overheating is because they indeed hit those ten times higher speeds (you will be consuming ten times the power to transfer that amount of data). I did max out USB 3.0 460MB/s (5Gpps) and USB-C Thunderbolt 3 1.0 GB/s read speed also without overheating. In my case for the write speed I think I might be hitting the limit of my setup, filesystem etc.BUILD:the device is easy to take apart (see video). It is just a case for an M.2 nvme ssd and I actually tested it with another ssd and it worked, so it would be easy to either replace the case or the ssd, which is important (if the case fails you can recover the data, if the ssd fails you can reuse the case with its nice build quality).The provided ssd has a cooling pad connecting the drive chips directly to the case lid for heat transfer, so I am convinced that the drive getting hot is actually expected and desired, because you don’t want that amount of heat to stay trapped in the device (other USB4 cases out there have huge cooling fins and all cost 70+ euros). I did not encounter any visible warranty-voiding paper or seal. The lid has a tight smooth fit but has no inner rubber seal, so don’t even try testing for water resistance, it should however be fairly dust proof. The silicone protector barely touches the lid edge with any pressure, so this is only for impact protection and likely does not provide any additional dust protection to the lid (no video about this, sorry). The lid is rigid and has no noticeable flex under finger pressure (also no video).CONCLUSIONSo far satisfied, but of course this is a new brand on amazon that just started selling these drives in September. If you notice most reviews are from amazon vine, only two other at the time of my review (09 Nov 2024) are actually reviews from people who actually bought the drive.Whether this drive will last the 2-5 years (at least) that one would expect, this is to be seen.All other well tested external ssd out there have more or less the same spike of 1 star reviews complaining about the drives being unrealiable and either failing or loosing data, so I expect this brand to be no different and in 6 month or so start seeing people complaining of failed drives. However, this is also a normal thing of mass production storage drive, so throw your dice and try it out, and never ever ever keep only one single backup or even multiple backups with identical devices, always at least two backups with different brands, different sizes, different models etc to avoid synchronized failure (identically produced devices with identical use *will* start failing with similar lifespan).Today’s storage devices are so cheap and fast that this is not that difficult nor expensive.If you want a device because you need external storage for your daily work, then you need to look for something that is proven reliable, for this device it’s too early.
