So far this has been a good, reliable, and SMALL source of external storage.
What I like about this hard drive is that it is very small and sleek. I use this with my MacBook pro-14. It has a fast transfer speed, reliable, small, and i can either hold it in my pocket or in one of the small pockets in the briefcase. Obviously I have not had this one very long, but I have a few of these (4TB, 2TB, and 1TB) that I use for photography and have not had any issues with either of them to date.

Great buy on an outstanding product
If you’ve ever used a regular external backup drive you know they are made with laptop HDDs. This solid state drive is not only (by comparison) much smaller and easy to store / carry around, it’s lightning fast compared to older, larger drives. Once you use this solid state drive, you’ll be ruined for life. Samsung is known for reliability and quality and this T7 is both and at a good price too. Hats off to Samsung for a clearly superior product. I highly recommend this to friends and family.

Tesla dashcam best friend
What really caught my attention is how well this drive performs as a storage solution for my Tesla Model Y’s dashcam. Watching Sentry events are instant now, I had to wait for 60+ seconds with my older drive.
Note 1 for other Tesla users – make sure you format your drive at least once per month (maybe move Sentry events somewhere else?). Because once these events take most of your SSD, loading gets slower, and you get less space for live 24/7 recording. So formatting will make both loading Sentry events faster, and leave more space for Live video (e.g. you will get 3-4 last days recorded 24/7 instead of 1 day).
Note 2 for Tesla users -first time if formatting doesn’t make ssd work with dashcam, connect SSD to your laptop and recreate folders from your old usb drive/ssd (just top 2 levels like create `SavedClips` and `SentryClips` … folders). Once I created them, dashcam mode started working.
