Missing softboxes
Lights and stands appear fine but arrived missing the two foldable softboxes shown (or any softboxes, for that matter), which was the main reason I went with this set. Will see if GVM responds and can send the softboxes, in which case I will revise review accordingly.

Nothing wrong with em
They would be perfect with a few minor tweaks, but IÊ»m really happy with how theyÊ»ve performed for me over the past month+. The programming and bluetooth are a little clunky, but IÊ»ve been able to do everything I wanted with them so far and even a few things I hadnÊ»t expected. Considering the price, theyÊ»ve more than earned their keep in my studio already. I hadnât needed to move these until recently and when I took them apart I saw the plastic plate on the inside had melted! Not totally, like into goo, but definitely disfigured and neither one can be slid into place again so Iâve just thrown them out.

Not for the professional
Flicker free illumination and decent color control. Anything below 3200k youâll need gells. Light weight, low power consumption and decent battery life. Construction seems decent quality and the parts fit and are basically usable. So why the three stars? One glaring design flaw. With the egg creat or silk installed the head will not pan down (see photo) when using the included stands. If the light head is flipped upside down, then you can angle down about 30 degrees. Basic 3point lighting requires lights aiming down, out of camera.Unlike others, I have not found any build issues or lack of quality. I have only use them one time so the jury is still out.The app is clumsy and loaded with ads, requires pi and network access. China spy novels come to mind. âGuysâ, stop with all the excess intrusion with user membership just to use a product.

Would be 5/5 Stars, but…
This is upsetting because the lights themselves are very nice. The problem is that they are only controlled by GVM’s app, and this effing app forces you to look at and see an ADVERSTISEMENT whenever you fire it up, despite that I already own the dang lights and do not want to by any more lights. If they fix it and remove their advertisement, I hate advertisements, then I will increase the review. Yet despite the nice lights, I wouldn’t have bought these lights had I known the app would force me to watch a 5 second commercial every time I tried to turn them on and control them. GVM << FIX YOUR APP!

Missing parts, one unit died after just 2 days
My order is missing the 2 lightboxes that were supposed to come with this kit. This was basically the whole reason I bought it as a kit. I have emailed the manufacturer and will update this review when I hear back from them.Update: one of the lights has died after owning it for two days. Confirmed it is the light itself and not just the power supply. It looks like Iâll be sending these back.Update 2: received my replacement order and it also did not come with the lightboxesâ¦Update 3: GVM sent me the lightboxes, which I appreciate. But, one of the lights from my replacement set makes a high pitched whining sound after the light has been on for 10-15 minutes. The sound is loud enough to be picked up by my mic, which means I canât use that light. This set will be going back to Amazon as well, and Iâm not willing to try another set.

The Physical UX of the lights is cheap and breaks after a few days of use.
The knob to adjust the temperature and effect of the light seized up after only a little use. It slowly got tighter then would no longer turn at all. This was only after a few uses.
