Mixed feelings. Ultimately not for me
It really depends on personal preference whether this car vent mount holder will suit you. I will tell you why it did not work for me:1. Blocking the air conditioning in the summer. Since this phone holder latches onto the car vents, this means a large portion of the air conditioning will be blocked off. This bothered me greatly. I tried installing the vent mount holder at different angles: top right, bottom left, middle right, on the passenger vent side, etc. No matter where I located this phone holder, I experienced a loss of air conditioning flow by a minimum of 30 to 40%. This meant that I felt a lot hotter in the car than I otherwise would have. In the summertime, I prefer to drive in a cool vehicle powered by air conditioning. With this phone mount, I just did not feel as cool as I would have liked. This made me more irritable in my car rides – especially during 100 degree weather. I have not tried this phone mount in the winter time, but I imagine the experience would be similarly detrimental. I do not think it is ideal to have heat blasting behind your phone – that would not be good for the internal components of the phone.2. I did not like the location of the phone holder mount near the vents. Again this is another situation that will depend on personal preference. Where do you like to have your phone mounted inside your vehicle? Do you prefer it higher up so that it meets your eye level, do you prefer to have it lower so that your view of traffic is unobstructed? My sweet spot is slightly at / slightly below eye level. On my vehicle, I prefer to have the car phone mount slightly above my vents so that I never have to LOOK DOWN when I am driving. I think that puts yourself into a dangerous situation whenever you veer your eyes off the road. There are suction mounts / gooseneck mounts that suction onto the windshield and adds another mount so that you can adjust the preferred location of your phone mount holder. I believe there is a sweet spot on most vehicles where you can place the phone holder just slightly above the vents. This way, you don’t have to look down to see your phone GPS and your view is not obstructed.These are the two main reasons why I decided to pass on the vent mount in general. I do not like having my AC blocked, and I do not think it is safe to have a phone mount located below eyesight level especially when you are in a new area, relying on your phone for GPS navigation.The vent mount itself works perfectly well for all kinds of phones except perhaps a super wide foldable samsung phone. I would pass on vent mounts in general if you share my two concerns: AC functionality and safety while driving.
