Tiny and Fast
The drive is incredibly small and weighs next to nothing. It’s also super fast for both reads and writes. The device has very solid build quality and is perfect for travel. The drive activity light is located inside the hole for a lanyard attachment which is a nice touch and it’s just the right brightness to see during the day without blinding you at night. The USB C cable it comes with is laughably short, but the drive is so light, you could let it hang from your laptop without worrying about bending connectors.

Amazing!
I’m a long time Mac user. Pro imager now retired. Used to having top level gear, but now a bit more $$ conscious than I had to be before. So when I purchased my most recent Mac update — a Mini 4 — I went with the base model — one that had everything I needed but was limited on internal memory. And this Crucial X9 Pro 2 TB corrected for that to perfection.It feels as fast as an internal memory. Basically transparent that it is anything but. And so reasonably priced.I use it, not just for long-term storage, but to hold the working Photoshop files.Yes, just amazing! And highly recommended!

Very nice compact ssd
I have always wanted a large capacity SSD and finally got one when it is on sale! I love it for its small size (even smaller and lighter than Samsung T7). The read/write speed has constantly been 900~1000MB/s, which is pretty close to its advertisement. I watched large video clips directly from the SSD for a while and there is no lagging nor is the SSD hot. I hope it will be a reliable SSD as i really like its small form factor and fast speed.

Perfect Size, Tons of Storage
Absolutely love how awesome this has been for me! It’s worked beautifully with my Mac and iPad to extend storage and I’ve been able to easily and quickly put all my art and videos onto it for safe keeping. I love the small size it is for easy carrying and the light indicator for while syncing content. I will say, it wasn’t clear on the listing here on Amazon as to its size, but just know, it’s smaller than an iPhone 4s. When I looked at the photos on Amazon of it, I was picturing it to be bigger than my iPhone 14 Pro, but it fits perfectly in my small hands and is super light weight! I would totally buy this again.

Great Product, a few negatives though
First of all, what I like about this SSD:- The size is great. It’s super small and easily fits in my pockets. It can even fit into my wallet if needed.- The terabyte of space is more than enough for me. It’s pretty easy to make folders and organize my files. From pictures and videos.- There aren’t any slowdowns or choppyness. All the videos and images I put on uploaded almost instantly and kept the original definition.- The SSD seems very well constructed. I’m always leaning on the side of caution so it would be rare that it would ever be in a position where it could be damaged in the first place, but the metal build is very nice.A few negatives about the SSD include:- There is no password protection like advertised. I’m also not sure if it includes the encryption.- The program does not interface well with my on device gallery. To open files I have to use a file manager and select images one by one. Definitely something to keep in mind if you are using this as a gallery backup for something like photography.- The included cable is nice, but it is somewhat of a hassle to use everytime I want to use the SSD. I wish there was an included case to hold everything together to things have no chance of getting lost.I still think that this is a great SSD and will continue to use it. There are just somethings that aren’t said in the advertising that should be taken into consideration before buying it

Wow, and wow again
If I could give this little device 6 stars, I would.It floored me. The download speeds are blazingly fast. I have no way to measure them, but comparing it to a Samsung T7 and the SanDisk Extreme, although all advertised at at 1000 Mb/sec, this little thing downloads an order of magnitude faster.I am using a MacBook Pro and this is the specially Mac formatted Crucial SSD version. The SanDisk was unreliable, would mount sometimes, not other times, and was of the slowest speeds. The Samsung is very reliable, slightly faster than SanDisk, but still of much slower speeds than this device. This device is far smaller than either, although all had the same 2 Tb capacity. This device has a footprint smaller than a credit card in both height and width (obviously not thickness). You could easily slide this into your pocket and not even feel it – smaller and less bulky than a car key.The front appears to be aluminum, the back rubberized so it stays put. This is an important feature given its small size and weight to not accidentally lose it.It comes with an indicator light – hard to see on the product images but hidden inside the lanyard mounting hole. This may sound silly but is important to me. Samsung has one, the SanDisk Extreme has not. That being the device that would not mount reliably, you never know what is going on without an indicator, I.e. is it still trying to mount or is it dead?No issue here with the Crucial device.All devices are advertised to be shock, dust and moisture resistant. Obviously I am not about to test either.Overall the Crucial X9 is the best SSD I have seen, especially for Macs, although they offer a generic not Mac specifically formatted version as well.Highly recommended. Well done!

Been using SanDisk drives for years but wanted to try something new, so ordered couple of X9 Pros. First of all I relly appreciate the compact size of the drive, I can literally put one in my wallet (empty wallet). Performance-wise it is comparable to Sandisk Extreme drives, sustainale write speed for large transfers is around 700MB/s and read speed of 950MB/s. If you want higher write speed then enable Disk Write Caching in Windows settings. On sale the pricing is just too good to ignore. In addition the 5-year warranty makes the whole deal sweet. Highly recommended drive and a very solid competitor for Sandisk.

Crucial X9 Pro 4TB Portable SSD proved to be a disaster. Despite formatting to APFS, itâs persistently unreliable. Disk Utility couldnât repair it, making it unusable for serious work or backup. Crucialâs customer support is non-existent. Their website offers little troubleshooting, and their service center is unresponsive. The phone numbers are inactive, making it impossible to reach anyone. Their firmware update tool requires a CD-ROM drive, which is inconvenient for M-series Apple Silicon Macs. Amazon customer service was equally frustrating. They insisted on a âcertificate of defectâ from Crucialâs unresponsive service center, which is unreasonable and impossible to obtain. With a 5-year warranty and service center numbers that donât work or answer the phone, itâs ridiculous. I eventually got a refund after much back-and-forth. I strongly advise anyone considering this drive, especially Mac users, to avoid it at all costs. This experience has severely damaged my trust in Crucial.
