Don’t waste your money
Great picture but good luck getting it to run an entire movie. We have yet to make it through an entire movie without it buffering and stopping every few seconds. It’s like it over heats. For the price this thing should be able to run all day but it literally can’t make it through 2 hours. Very disappointed. Hoping to be able to return it still.

An in-depth comparison to the Optoma UHZ35ST….which should you buy?
This review covers the performance criteria that are most important when selecting a 4K projector for your bedroom or living room. The Optoma UHZ35ST short throw 4k laser projector will be used as a baseline because it has similar technology as the Epson LS650 ultra short throw laser projector.BRIGHTNESS: The most important criteria for projector satisfaction is the amount of light that it produces, and this is where the Epson LS650 really shines, especially if you cannot control the amount of ambient light where the projector is located. With the blinds closed in my bedroom, I had to set the light output to its lowest setting, which is something that I’ve never done before. By comparison, I would set the UHZ to about 40% brightness in my bedroom, despite the fact that both projectors have very similar lumen ratings.My living room has more ambient light and is much larger than my bedroom at 16’ x 24’, so I set the LS650 to 100% brightness during the daytime and 70% at night. The picture brightness is amazing! For comparison, I would set the UHZ to 80% at night and 100% during the day when it’s used in the living room, and it also provides sufficient brightness. However, the LS650 is about 10 – 20% brighter than the UHZ in my opinion.RESOLUTION: The LS650 and the UHZ35st both use pixel shifting to achieve 4K resolution. Thus, neither has native 4K resolution. However, this distinction doesn’t really matter. What matters is the optics that are used to project a high-resolution image to a screen. As a rule, long throw projectors tend to project better images than short throw projectors because the optical glass lens introduces less distortion as compared to short throw projectors that must bend or “spread” the image in a short distance. This explains why the UHZ35st, which has a throw distance of about 4’, has blurry resolution at the perimeter of its image. Having a blurry image at the perimeter renders it less effective for use as a computer monitor, and it may be less than ideal for certain types of gaming, but it’s barely noticeable when watching movies or television.Although the LS650 has a throw distance of only 1’, there is virtually no image blurring at the perimeter, probably due to Epson’s use of a higher quality glass lens. Thus, it is possible to use the LS650 as a computer monitor. So, the LS650 has another edge over the UHZ.PICTURE QUALITY: The LS650 has an excellent picture straight out of the box. No color adjustments were necessary. This does not mean that the colors are perfect, it simply means that the standard settings should be sufficient for most people. Likewise, no color adjustments were necessary for the UHZ. However, the array of colors that are displayed are slightly better on the LS650, so the LS650 has another edge over the UHZ.Fan Noise: The LS650 fan does run louder when at 100% brightness, but I hardly notice it because I usually have the speaker volume playing much louder in the living room. Otherwise, I never hear the fan at all. However, the UHZ is located a bit closer to where I’m sitting, and the fan runs more frequently at lower light settings, so fan noise is a bit more noticeable with the UHZ. For these reasons, the LS650 has another edge over the UHZ.FEATURES: The LS650 and UHZ35st can both be used for casual gaming, but the UHZ has slightly lower input lag at <10ms versus about 20ms for the LS650, so the edge goes to the UHZ for gaming. However, the eARC function performed better with the LS650 in my testing, because any time the signal input was changed on the UHZ a full system reset was required for the eARC to function. Also, the LS650 has smart TV functionality, as all the apps are built in, which is something the UHZ lacks entirely. The LS650 has a Bluetooth remote, so it works without requiring a line of sight to the projector, which I found to be very convenient. I could go on and on, but it’s clear that the Epson has a better overall design that is more or less future proof. So, another edge for the LS650.VALUE: Currently, the LS650 costs a few hundred dollars more than the UHZ on Amazon. Is it worth it? In my opinion, there is no question that overall, the LS650 is a much better projector than the UHZ35st. If you’re seeking the features provided by the LS650, you won’t find a better projector for less, and you’d be hard pressed to find its equal for under $3000. That is why I hold the opinion that the other manufacturers such as Benq, Sony, Optoma, Viewsonic, and LG cannot deliver a better overall projector at this price point.ACKNOWLEDGMENT:Although the Optoma and Epson projectors were provided at no cost, this review is based on actual testing over the course of several weeks, and was not influenced by any third parties.

Man oh man! I cannot even begin to review this thing! It is very new tech and highly coveted! The short laser has revolutionized the game! My husbands friend is a techy and he helped us ge this set up and he was offering us above market for it because he was so impressed. This thing has a 4K-type resolution and low input lag. The brightness stands up to ambient light like no other and we have used it to replace our living room TV. I am concerned about having to replace filters and lights but so far so good and we have been using this thing around the clock for 3 months now. The downside is there is no ethernet connector, it is strictly wireless which can also be a plus I suppose. Android TV is fully integrated and delivers quick processing times. There’s no rainbow artifacts which most single-chip DLP models have issues with. I am no techy but these are all the key points my husbands friends told me to be sure to mention in our review for those who are tech savvy.

After a lot of researching I bought one of these for our church. I like the short throw and the clear and bright picture, so much that I ended up getting one for myself. Get picture and that’s just on a painted wall. I have a screen on my Christmas list and I know that it will just enhance the picture. I do have a digital output sound bar but even without that the sound quality is pretty good from the unit itself.
