Great for the DIYer!
I’m a entry level filmmaker, so my gear kit is pretty small. I had purchased this for a short film documentary for a local church and had a pretty fun time using it. It’s my first ‘steadycam’ equipment that I have ever used so there was a bit of a learning curve. I used this in conjunction with a Sony Fs100 camera (about 7lbs with the kit lens) and found it was just a little to heavy for my wrists to handle, so get a brace if needed!The vest is awesome, I have to admit. I’m a 5’2, 150lbs woman, so short but sturdy, and the vest really helped me run around with this thing all day. I did have a little strain here and there, but that is more of my physical condition.The only thing I would of liked to see with this product, and really why I’m giving it a four star instead of five, is they should provide links, videos, or instructional pamphlets on how to balance this thing. I spent nearly a day trying to figure out how to balance it correctly and when I think I had it, I didn’t. It may be on my end of ‘user malfunction’, but I think there should be more material on how to balance the system.Great product, overall!

I purchased this item and it was shipped with perfect timing. The fly cam was exactly as described, however, after putting it together it was not strong enough to hold my camera. I issued a return, in which the company email me back and asked what the issue was. I explained that it was not strong enough to hold my camera and they suggested another one that would work but it was no issue ever about getting my money back. At the time, I really just wanted a stabilizer so I went ahead and paid extra money for it. It was shipped very fast and was exactly as described. The fly Cam worked fine but it was still not strong enough to hold my camera with accessories. This is where the confusion came in I believe, I explained to the company that it would work fine but I had to bare bones my camera and I Felt like they did not take into account the weights at the bottom of the stabilizer counted towards the overall weight capacity. I emailed the company at that time and said that I was going to keep the fly cam because it worked awesome, I just had to bare bones the camera and it was not really worth the return because it worked amazing. Now, this is where this company exceeds where so many fail. I received an email less than three days later stating that their production team was working on a stronger spring for their stabilizer for me. I thought that was pretty amazing for them to do that and within three weeks they shipped me new springs that worked perfect. Overall, my camera came in at around 28 pounds all decked out and I even had to loosen the springs because it could have held more. Overall, the nicest company I have ever dealt with using Amazon over the last eight years.Thank you Cinecity

Just received this yesterday, mostly happy with it! Ive only had one stabalizer before this, a cheap but good Neewer one, I needed something that could handle a bit more weight. The actual flycam itself is good quality. The vest/arm is decent for the price, but the buckles aren’t the best. The quick-release plate doesn’t instill a lot of confidence as its just hard plastic, but luckily I already had an aluminum manfrotto plate to use instead, which is also desirable to swap to sticks easily.For beginners, when it gets to balancing, just be patient, it’s very adjustable and needs very subtle adjustments. My setup is an FX3, 24-105, Atomos Ninja V+, and I’m only using about half of the weights in the case.Couple disclaimers:1. While this does come with a case, the case is only for the stabilizer, you’ll need something else for the vest.2. There’s another review here that does mention an aroma… which I did notice, but it was just the boxes that smelled, the contents were fine thankfully.

The Flycam HD-5000 & vest arrived yesterday and was well packaged.It is well made & is solidly constructed.As others have said, it is pretty satraightforward to work out & put together.Though there was one bag of extra plastic shims & bits that I could not find the location for,they weren’t even on the online instructions, but it seemed fully complete without them so I did not worry about them.Unfortunately I had thought the listing picture of the HD-5000 itself had been enlarged so you could see it better next to the vest.It hadn’t….This thing is huge.Way too big for my needs, unfortunately.I shoot gigs & festivals with a mid-size/semi-pro Canon Dslr and theres no way I can get round a stage with the band playing on it or mingle through the crowds with something this size, I get moaned at for having the tripod there as it is lolSo unfortunately I have had to return it, and hence only 4 stars as I cannot comment on it’s durability.Though it does look like it will last a fair while judging by it’s construction.
