Worst product i ever possessed… but not for long.
Problem started right away with the installation. I went to the website that I was directed to in order to download the driver and… the product is not listed. There the race starts to find the proper link to the download. To cut a long story short, it took me two hours to download a driver which in the end I was not sure was the correct one as i ended up with a Cardiris5.9 icon on my desktop. Already a bad start. Then comes the first attempt to scan a document. I end up with a Jpeg format when i was expecting a pdf. I go to the user’s manual. There, believe it or not, not a single indication on how to switch from one format to another or from high to low resolution. Something that was so easy with the ‘Iriscan anywhere’. After three long frustrating hours the whole thing ended up in the dumpster. IRIS products, NEVER AGAIN. And by the way, while the Iriscan anywhere came with a softcase for transport, this one came with nothing and it is rather bulky.

worked just fine with windows
As it clearly says in the title, this is compatible with Windows only, not Mac. So all the reviews that say itâs not compatible should read the description before buying.I obviously tested it with my laptop running Windows OS, and even though the process of setting it up needs improvement, it worked as expected once installed.I donât need to scan constantly, so this would be perfect for occasional use for me. The size is small enough to be portable, and I felt it was more convenient than using a large large-sized regular printer. However, this was a returned product, in turn, I deducted 1 star, as who likes to get a used item when ordering a new one?

Useless
I run Linux and I tried a whole variety of software example to make it work, such as SANE, skanpage and skanlite but nothing worked and none of the software could see the device even though my USB manager could see it on USB.So I tried to make it work on my wife’s Windows 11 machine and that was a miserable experience. Admittedly Windows is always a miserable experience but this was slow and useless.Back in the old days you could run one CD or DVD and everything was installed. Now you have to visit a website and download a mysterious mush of stuff and then after the super slow install you still have a bunch of choices. Nothing would make it work. It’s crap. I wasted an hour.At least I got another USB cable but I threw the device in the trash. I am a lifelong Canon camera user and I love Canon stuff but this is useless junk.

Works great.
I got this for our craft business. As sometimes we need to travel to clients, and when we need to hand draw an idea, this helps to immediately scan it in and save it for future reference. It works great, is easy to setup, is a perfect size for travel. Definitely recommend.

Works ok.
I found this scanner as part of an archeological dig. We were excavating an ancient Egyptian tomb in the valley of the kings, and when we first opened the sealed tomb, this scanner was enclosed in a small, sealed box beside the main sarcophagus. I carefully opened the lid of a container which hasn’t seen sunlight in over 3,000 years, and blew away a layer of dust a centimeter thick. What was that? A micro-USB port? What a find! An ancient micro-USB port buried deep in the valley of the kings for 3,000+ years! Who would have thought? In case you can’t yet tell, that little jab was a sarcastic way of saying…why does this have a micro-USB port in 2024? This isn’t 2014. Or 2014 B.C. either. It’s 2024, and there should be NOTHING that comes equipped with a micro-USB port. Not ever. In fact, equipping a device with a micro-USB port in 2024 should be a criminally punishable offense.Luckily for IRIScan, I am unable to press charges in such a manner. But I am able to deduct a star for having a micro-USB plug. And so I am. This is the era of the USB C plug, IRIScan. Let’s get with it.Linux was a no-show, unfortunately, for those wondering. Windows worked ok, but you have to make sure you unplug and re-plug in the scanner and re-run the software, otherwise it’ll say “scanner not found”. I had no problem switching between DPI modes. I didn’t try OCR because I won’t likely be using it for that, mainly for photos. Scanned image quality was so-so at 300 dpi, much better at 600 dpi. It’s not super-fast, but it’s not that slow, either. Definitely not for high-volume photo scanning, though. You’ll want a dedicated photo scanner for that. I do like that it requires no additional power supply or anything else to run it. Overall, this is a great little windows-only scanner, and if you need something portable, this definitely fits the bill and works well. Aside from the micro-USB debacle, I have no other major complaints.
