Easy setup, works perfectly
It took seconds to join to my Echo Dot and pipe sound over the optical connection into my stereo. Sound is great. Great value for the price. I’m completely satisfied with this purchase.

Excellent and inexpensive.
I bought this bluetooth unit so that I could send Echo Dot audio to my home theater receiver, which doesnât have a native bluetooth input. It paired easily to the Echo Dot already in my living room, and I connected it to my receiver via the optical cable option, keeping the audio data digital all the way to the receiver. Looks great as it matches up aesthetically to my receiver.I put the unit on a smart outlet so that I could turn it on and off via Alexa voice control, which is handy for times when I donât need/want more immersive sound, and my home theater receiver is turned off. The Echo Dot automatically toggles back to its internal speaker when the unit is off and connects immediately when the unit powers up. Though the unit has a momentary button for power/track control, it powers up on its own when the smart outlet applies power from shutoff, and the unit remembers the volume setting that it was last set to. The Echo Dot still retains its microphone access. Was very happy about all these things because it makes for a hassle-free, voice-controlled experience. The unitâs sound quality is excellent (expected in keeping an all-digital path via the optical cable connection). Its controls work properly. Audio data is captured and passed on flawlessly. Set it and forget it. The unit is very lightweight. I wouldnât think it can handle rough treatment well. The kindly-supplied optical cable is stiffer than other optical cables, making its appearance management a little tougher. The supplied USB-C power cable is pretty short. Consider getting a longer one if you need more than a foot or so to power this unit. I have not tried the unitâs USB audio input option.Iâm glad I bought this. It was originally an experiment that wound up delivering beautifully and inexpensively. Highly recommend.

Works well without Bose EQ
I added this receiver to a setup with an NAD 2200 amp and Series IV Bose 901s. It only works well if I bypass the Bose EQ so the music is flatter than it should. The Bose EQ hates the receiver and the two together make a terrible humming sound. I did try the EQ without this receiver and it works great as ever. So I installed this receiver in the bedroom system ahead of the NAD 2200 amp which powers some Vandersteen 2 speakers and they sound great. The range throughout that side of the house is sufficient. I like the volume control at the receiver as well as on my Bluetooth device. In my case, it’s an android phone. I’m driving the Bose gear now with an NAD 7130 receiver instead.

Excellent!
I have a 17 year old stereo system with excellent speakers. This device was easy to install and connect with Bluetooth. It just works and fast! What a wonderful difference for me to be able to add Bluetooth to an older system and get really high quality sound in a couple of minutes! This product is highly recommended. The cables inside the box are mediocre. Consider getting higher quality cables.

Connected instantly
The KAIY Bluetooth 5.0 reciever is an excellent product. It connected a bluetooth signal from my 5 year old Yamaha reciever to my tablet in seconds. You will get a bunch of patch cords to ensure proper hook-up. I purchased it on Blank Friday at a discount. There is no distortion from this unit. The bluetooth range is very good. Try this model before purchasing a more expensive bluetooth reciever. You must have a USB port or external power source (phone charger) to use the product.

AUX channel never worked
I bought this product to add Bluetooth functionality to my existing HiFi Audio Amplifier, but the AUX output of the KAIY Bluetooth receiver never worked. This is an example that the Quality Assurance at these minor Chinese manufacturers is generally very poor because the company – and others like them – seems quite happy to ship faulty units.Thankfully the L/R RCA outputs did work, so I did manage to add Bluetooth to my sound system, but the audio quality could have been better. Given that the unit is not expensive, I suppose it’s a case of getting what you pay forOne annoying feature of the unit is that it “shouts” at full volume over my amplifier’s loudspeakers that a Bluetooth connection is missing when you are 10 seconds too slow at switching on the Bluetooth transmission on your smart phone. I hope that this “feature” is removed from their subsequent models, because the unit’s flashing “BT” display is more than adequate to indicate that a Bluetooth connection still needs to be established. It would also be nice if the unit would remember it’s last output volume setting after it has been switched off.Given that the unit’s AUX output never worked is the main reason why I will not buy anything from this company again. They have to take Quality Assurance seriously or they will lose customers.

Best Bluetooth yet !

Setup and syncing is smooth and easy, not the greatest quality sound though.
No problem syncing up the bluetooth from my computer to my ancient Yamaha stereo receiver which I connected to the Kaiy receiver with the included RCA cables. Probably a good 30 feet from my bedroom to my living room where my stereo is and there’s no problem with the connection dropping. There is a good amount of quality loss listening to mp3 music files from my computer versus playing a cd through my stereo and it’s not because they’re mp3’s. I’ve played mp3’s directly from my laptop via an input cable to my stereo before and they sounded awesome, unfortunately that’s not the case with this device using bluetooth.
