How did we get our start?

HIFI college was founded by a group of audiophiles with the aim of creating an online store that has everything you need in one place.

Why do we love what we do?

For us at HIFI college, music has always been a passion and an integral part of our lives, and we wanted to offer affordable and high-quality audio equipment to everybody who wanted a higher quality sound at any budget.

What problem are we solving?

We offer the best audio equipment from DACs/AMPs, IEMS, Headphone Amplifiers, portable audio players, to dongles and cables.

👍 Portable beats desktop ▶️Portable beats desktop. G5 integrates a USB DAC, a Bluetooth DAC, a NFCA headphone amplifier into a portable volume.
👍 Plug and play ▶️G5 has a wide range of compatibility: Windows 10 or above, MAC, Linux, IOS, Android can be plug and play. G5 uses 2nd generation XMOS, USB supports up to PCM32bit768kHz and DSD512 native. The G5 has a built-in 4000mAh battery so that it does not need to reply on the power supply of the mobile phone like other portable DAC/AMP, so it will not reduce the battery life of the mobile phone.
👍 LDAC 24bit96kHz ▶️G5 has the certification of Hi-Res Audio Wireless and LDAC. It uses newest QCC5125 chipset to support LDAC/AAC/SBC/APTX/APTX LL/APTX HD/APTX Adaptive protocol. To get even better sound quality from Bluetooth, we abandon the built-in DAC of QCC5125 and connect its digital signal to ES9068AS to decode. After pairing the G5 with mobile phone/player/tablet by Bluetooth, the headphone is free from the cables. It is not a burden to put the G5 in your pocket, bag, or desktop.
👍 Suitable for almost all kinds of headphones ▶️G5 provides 3 step gain settings, so that high-sensitivity or low-sensitivity headphones can obtain a comfortable gain range; the output level as high as 21Vpp and the output power of 175mW under 300Ω load are enough to drive high impedance headphones; The <0.3uVrms ultra-low noise and <0.1Ω output impedance allow sensitive IEMs to perform satisfactorily.
👍 Built-in NFCA Headphone amp ▶️The G5 uses an NFCA module specially modified for portable devices, which can achive large output, low distortion, and good battery life. It pairs with high sensitivity IEMs and power hungry high impedance headphones nicely.

Customers say

Customers appreciate the headphones’ sound quality, power, and portability. They find the sound clearer at higher volumes than desktop amps with a nice volume control. The headphones are described as functional and providing plenty of gain for moderate impedance cans. Many customers find the design, battery life, and depth satisfactory.

    This is the one
This is the 4th “portable” DAC I’ve tried. I had the Qudelix 5k, one from iBasso I’m forgetting the model now, the Cayin RU7, and the Apple dongle. Within the first few seconds of using this one from Topping I said “Yup this is the one.”What it provides that is different from the others is clarity. The RU7 was making a pretty significant change to the sound, where it was quite a bit warmer but also kind of muddy in the lows. The G5 is very balanced, providing what I would describe as a more “uncolored” sound. In some way similar to the Apple Dongle which is also pretty neutral, but the Apple Dongle just didn’t have any oomph behind it. It felt like the sound was constricted a bit. Which makes sense, it’s just a little cable, and may not be able to fully support higher end headphones in the best way although it’s really impressive for what it is! The iBasso was great, my 2nd favorite, but had some build quality issues and quirks that I wasn’t happy with.I like the accuracy of the sound, and the fact that it doesn’t color the sound. I will say that I’ve heard more “exciting” DACs and amps before, ones that are designed to color the sound a bit. The G5 isn’t quite as exciting, but it’s clean. For genres like classical and jazz where clarity and being able to hear all the instruments accurately is more important than emphasized bass or sparkly trebles, it’s really nice.I do wish it was a bit smaller, this thing is about as big as an iPhone 15 Pro, and nearly twice as thick. I hope that maybe they make a version of this without a battery. It’s great for using around the house or at a desk, but I wouldn’t really want to take it on a walk with me. So portability does suffer a bit. But listening at home / at a desk is where I’ll be using it most of the time anyways. It’s not so bad if you have a decent sized bag with you too. Some people complained about feedback when the phone is sitting on top of the G5, I personally didn’t have any issues like that with mine. Maybe very briefly when it was sitting on top of my wool deskmat actually, so maybe it’s situational?Lastly I’ll just say, I can’t believe this thing was only $280. The Cayin RU7 is a little dinky plastic thing and that’s $260. This thing is a beast, fully machined anodized aluminum chase with a nice volume knob, battery, and really solid construction filled with high end audio components, it’s quite impressive for the price. I guess I do wish that it had a display, that’s what the black bar on the top looked like it was from the pictures, but it’s not, it’s just a little tinted window to see the circuits inside. Even just a little display to show the volume or the currently selected mode would be nice, but not a requirement,

Great Portable DAC/Amp, Has its own battery
I bought this because I expected to bring it to the Florida Audio Expo to test out various headphones I was interested in. However it didn’t arrive on time so it mostly just sat on my desk these past weeks untouched. I decided to listen to it with my headphones before it gets returned since it’s actually too big for my needs anyway. This unit has enough power to drive all my Planar Magnetic full size headphones. It can also drive my IEMs with somewhat precise volume control. This unit is actually not as thick as I thought it would be and mostly fits under the size of my phone; however its general weight and port layout doesn’t work for the headphones that I actually typically travel with. The other thing which bothers me is that since it has its own battery; it needs to be charged independently. It cannot be powered by a single cable like most dongles (since this technically isn’t a dongle) which makes it complicated if it is used for a long period of time.I tried to make a use case for it and brought it out to use on my laptop while I worked downstairs and watched my kids…. in a couple hours it died on me and I had to go recharge it.So I charged it and put it back in the box for return… It just doesn’t work for my needs considering how I use portable devices.I didn’t test it as a pass-through Amp either or using Bluetooth as those are of no use to me. Bluetooth doesn’t have enough quality to make it worth having an Amp like this to power your headphones IMHO.Honestly I would have problem kept it if it had a mode for single cable operation where I could use it with my laptop as well as my phone. Right now I use another Dongle with my phone and it lasts many hours before I have to charge my phone and it can also power many of my headphones.About the sound:I compared this to my Topping D70S + THX AAA 789 Amp and I have to say that this little device packs a punch! It really is typically indistinguishable vs my 789. There are a couple scenarios where it isn’t as good but they are so few and far between and this required critical listening and a switcher in order to really tell the difference. As far as clarity; it is perfect. The SINAD score on this beats many desktop products so it is no wonder that I couldn’t tell a difference in clarity even in my most complex & tricky tracks.About Longevity:I notice that this has an internal battery but no mention of how it would be changed. I imagine someone somewhere sells a battery for this unit; but I don’t see an easy way to open it to change the battery. For me that worries me because this device isn’t cheap and I’d want to keep it ideally forever and just buy replacement batteries.Alas this one is going back, it just isn’t the product for me… even if it might be the product for you.

    Excellent sound, but
This is an amazing device when it comes to sound quality., built, power, etc. I really enjoyed it. I’ll try to summarize it, while at home, when relaxing and having my extended music listening sessions, it was super pleasant overall. The only issues I had were its weight and it gets very hot. I used it outside for about 8 hours using my Sony wh-1000xm4 at the parks, but together with my iPhone 13 Pro, Max it became too heavy, and at points, I had to turn it off for a while to let it cool down.I suppose that if you have a smaller, lighter source and you are able to keep it in a backpack somewhat cool these issues wouldn’t be such a problem. The unit it’s definitely a keeper for most people looking for a portable powerful excellent sounding device. However, these issues were a dealbreaker for me.Now I’m looking for other portable options that would drive my new FiiO FT3 headphones (350 Ω). I have a FiiO BTR7, but it’s definitely not enough.

    Excellent performance.
Pro audio post-production engineer here. Got this as a mini travel DAC and HPA. It’s not perfect, but it surpasses my expectations for a mobile unit at this price point. Excellent quality, and plenty of gain for moderate impedance cans. I can work on this unit. My daily driver for work is a Lynx Hilo, for reference, over 10x the cost.

    Solid and powerful
Sounds nice, probably better to just get the variations and dongle instead but they work nicely with stubborn planers like DCA stealth or expanse
