I’ve had an old basic Fire TV Stick for many years, and it’s always been slow. Initially it was not a big deal, but as I started to add more apps, I would regularly have to restart the device, or manually close almost all background running apps just so I could load various streaming services. Not to mention, it would take 15-20 seconds before it would fully load. It got to the point where I did not really bother using the device and just stuck with using my laptop.I had almost picked this 4K Max latest unit up a few times in the past, but decided not to because I did not have a 4k TV at the time. Well I should have. This is so much faster than previous TV Stick models it’s fantastic. Things load almost instantly, I can keep all background apps running, Netflix does not give me buffering errors, etc. I also like how I can control my receiver and everything from the single remote, too.

**updated: removing 1 star– second order didn’t go as well. :/I’ve had two Fire TV Stick 4K’s for about 4 years.They work well, but the remotes are very worn. While looking for new Amazon brand remotes, I found this listing for the certified refurbished 4K Max.I tried the new Fire TV Stick 4K about six months ago; it worked horribly with my Amazon Recast, so back it went.I figured I’d give the Fire TV Stick 4K Max a try… 2 GB ram and 16 GB storage is double my regular 4K’s.And, I am glad that I did!Set up was a breeze, as usual.Set up was supposed to duplicate my old Fire Stick… it missed a few apps, but that was easy enough to fix. Yes, it installs all of Amazon’s free streaming apps. (If you don’t like them, click the Menu button (three bars) and click “Hide from Your Apps”.I currently have 25 apps installed on the 4K Maxand still have 6.4 GB left of the 13 GB available for storage on the 4K Max.The 4K Max is fast and comes with a new style remote- a few more keys,including a button to take you directly to your recent apps and another for scrolling Live TV guides!The 4K Max is responsive and everything runs a little bit quicker. Apps that were a bit sluggish before are improved.I was impressed enough with the new 4K Max, that I’ve ordered another one to replace my other 4K. 😉 * * * * *I received the second 4K Max. I cannot complete a set up without Errors… through the parental controls and app offers at the end. I’ve factory reset three times. Same non-descript Error messages.Aannndddd… I cannot request a Return w/Replacement. Just a Return. Sure I can order another refurb 4K Max, but the price has almost doubled since the weekend.One hour on Live Chat accomplished nothing.Disappointing, for sure.This one is going back. I’ll do without.
