Endless Possibilities
The possibilities are truly endless with the Phomemo Label Printer. Upon opening the unit and downloading the necessary app, that became apparent just from perusing through the options. My printer connected to the app almost instantaneously, and the printing process was straight forward from the start. You can get quite technical and creative, using the various options and features, or you can print out a label quickly, especially with the preset templates. That’s a nice option, which brings me to the app. You’re creating and executing everything with the app, and I can report that it is well designed and thorough. I haven’t had any connection problems between the app and the printer, and I’m utterly impressed by the breadth of design permutations available. The app gives you the tools to let your imagination go wild. You can also use other labels with this printer, whether it’s magnet labels, colored labels etc., and that only expands your options. The only thing I wish the app had was a shopping section that allowed you to add other accessories and order more labels. It would be nice to see a products that are specifically compatible and recommended for the Phomemo Label Printer. That would also make ordering more labels convenient. Another thing to mention, the app layout doesn’t quite fit my iPhone screen, and I’ve included a photo to demonstrate.Sometimes I’m dissuaded from using a product if I feel like it’s difficult to hit the ground running, but the experience of this printer/app combo makes it so easy to print out a label without feeling impeded. The unit itself is compact and durable, and the retro appearance is charming. It’s rather compact, and because it’s modular, it can be stored safely and easily. Sometimes the value of a product isn’t solely confined to the quality to price ratio, it can be determined by how often you’re going to use the product, and because of this printer’s usefulness, its ease of use, and its creativity potential, I can say I’ll be using it often. To me, it’s a value, and I highly recommend.

A little disappointed

These printers are pretty cheap, as low as $10, and they work just fine.This new printer, which promises improvements, uses a proprietary continuous cartridge, and at least right now, you can’t buy replacements/refills on Amazon, only on the company web site. The replacement cartridges are fairly expensive, much more than the precut labels I’m used to using.I was hoping that the print quality on this printer would be high quality, comparable to what I get from a P-Touch type printer. However, as you can see from the photo, the print is pretty grainy, and really doesn’t look better than the results I get from the cheaper printers.So this is a lot more expensive for both the printer and supplies, and the results are at best marginally better. Up and running in minutes
App is easy to install and the printer was detected on the first run. You can add it from the app store yourself or scan a QR code in the quick start guide. For an OEM app, its pretty well designed and has many preset labels you can quickly print out to label things like spice jars. It also comes with a wide selection of fonts and graphics you can add.The device itself is about the size of (and looks like) a Walkman, though I struggle to find a modern-day comparison. It arrived fully charged and truly was ready to use in a matter of minutes.My only concern is the replacement labels. They aren’t available on Amazon, which likely means that they are not competitively priced and won’t have third-party alternatives. I’m deducting one star for this, though I may deduct another later if this turns out to be true and I find that gouging is present. I really like the printer and will use it until the included tape runs out. Four stars.
