    Working perfectly in Optoma HD27
Installed in my Optoma HD27 and colors are perfect and bright. I was sceptical because the color ordering on the disc didn’t seem to match my OEM part but after firing it up it works perfectly. Arrived faster than importing from overseas which is a big plus

    Works like new again!
I’ve had my projector for 9 years now. I thought it was having a bulb issue as I’ve already replaced it twice over the years. However after replacing the bulb a third time I noticed the colors were way off. Everything had a green or red tint to it. Plus the picture was still very dim. After doing a little research I found this product and figured it was worth a try to avoid having to replace the entire unit. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. My projector works like new again. The picture is clearer and brighter than ever. I’m very happy I was able to save the $1,000+ it would have cost me to buy a new projector. If you have a dim picture or notice the colors seem to be off I definitely recommend replacing this part before giving up and buying a new projector altogether.

Did the job and saved me hundreds of dollars
I bought this color wheel for my several years old Optoma projetor. The red colors were really off because the index stripe on my original color wheel had partly fallen off, throwing off the rotation speed of the wheel. I followed YouTube instructions, slightly broke parts of my crumbling projector housing, but managed to install the new color wheel correctly enough and BOOM: the projector colors look amazing again. I’m really happy with my purchase!

    Quick plug and play option.
Been using for about 2 months now and it’s been amazing. Had an issue where the projector made all sorts of noises and never turned on. Thought it was the bulb. Turned out the indicator marker that’s on the color wheel had somehow come off and the projector couldn’t tell if the color wheel was spinning or not. In short this new color wheel was a really quick plug and play option and the projector has never been better. Couldn’t be happier with the color reproduction from the wheel. Thank you.!

    Lasted maybe 8 months !!!
This worked fine at first. Bought one year ago. About 4 months ago it started making sounds but not horrible but slowly continued to get worse until the colors were flashing and freezing pictures. Started to sound like a tin can was being ripped apart. Took projector apart and the whelk would only spin slowly when I physically spun it myself. They are supposed to spin freely and fast and when they don’t is when all the problems start. Sprayed some electronic cleaner on bearings and around spinning cylinder. It still didn’t spin fast when I tried it. Put it back in and for now it’s much better but I know it’s only time before it fails totally since I know it’s not spinning fast and freely! So 8 months for a color wheel to last is obscene! They have some for 80.00 and up on Amazon also. I guess it’s the old saying THAT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR that is the main issue here

    Installed in Optoma HD142X
YES! This WILL work with the Optoma HD142x projector. Before I purchased this, I could not get a clear yes or no. My lamp was going out after nearly 2 years of use. Shortly after the lamp was replaced, the projector began to act up again as if the bulb was out. The projector also had the lamp indicator on for a bad bulb. I almost purchased another bulb but after further troubleshooting turns out color wheels are prone to fail. This wheel was a bit dirty when I received it. I did NOT clean this to avoid damaging the glass or the unit and it doesn’t appear to affect the quality. The wheel spins freely as it should and my projector is working good the day I bought it. If you’re changing your bulb, consider replacing the wheel at the same time. This was a good aftermarket option.

    Perfect replacement
This is the second color wheel replacement I’ve had to do for my Optoma HD141X, which is a little frustrating, but at least practice makes perfect. I was able to diagnose the issue this time just from the sound it made and the momentary effect it had on the image just before the projector shut itself down. This allowed me to get in an order for this very reasonably priced replacement for next-day delivery, without even having to get the projector down off its ceiling mount. In less than 24 hours we were back up and running, which is a new record for lowest projector down-time for me (I’ve been using a projector as a primary TV through three devices over the past 14 years)

    Won’t work on HD20 or HD180
This color wheel doesn’t work on an Optoma HD 20 or HD 180. The HD20 and HD180 need a wheel with 6 segments of equal size using only 3 colors, Red, Green, Blue, Red, Green, Blue. This wheel has some smaller segments of varying sizes. For the Optoma HD20 and HD180, each of the 6 color segments should be the same size. After installation you may need to adjust the color wheel timing. On the remote press Off – Left – Left – Up, or on the projector press Power, Left, Left, Up. this will take you into a special menu for adjustments.

In Australia, Optoma will not supply replacement parts to repair shops for projectors sold otherwise than through its authorised dealers, as I found out after travelling about 45 minutes back and forth to a repair shop. I would never buy another Optoma product again for this reason alone. I have further reasons never to buy an Optoma product set out below. This colour-wheel, however, was a perfect fit and works perfectly. The colours are perfect.Would I recommend replacing it yourself?1. It was moderately irritating and took about an hour for someone who had no idea what he was doing. I think it should be do-able for people with basic life competence. You will need a small magnetic philips head screwdriver and a hex head screwdriver of a small-ish size I cannot recall. It would help to have one of those plastic tools they use at phone repair places to prise things apart. Don’t touch this thing or the lamp directly with your oil-covered fingers. BUT…2. If this part has FAILED (rather than colours fading, etc) and is making a racket or has jammed, then probably what you’ll find when you open up your Optoma–as I did–was that Optoma has cheaped out on the design of their projectors. You will find a SINGLE 60mm fan. The kind you used to see on cheap computer cases and you can buy for $1. You will see that this single fan is totally inadequate to cool the unit. You will find that the plastic housing has been cooked through and become brittle. If the colour-wheel has been jamming or making a racket you will likely find that one or more bolts to the colour-wheel housing have pulled through the now-brittle threads on the case. You will not easily repair that, and can expect your nice new colour wheel to suffer the same fate as the old one unless you do. I will be ripping it open again to try supergluing it in place. Obviously once that is done, the colour wheel will not be able to be replaced again.Do I recommend this colour wheel as a colour wheel? Absolutely. Good quality, works well! But you might consider whether it’s worth the time and trouble of doing this repair rather than buying a better quality projector.
