i can’t believe the quality

A nice 75% keyboard at a good price
RK definitely has some nice keyboards, and this is a good addition to their lineup. Many users are migrating from the bulky, traditional, full-sized keyboards to smaller keyboards for their home office or gaming setup. Frankly, if you don’t frequently use a numpad, you’d be doing yourself a favor to pick up a 75% or smaller keyboard for your desk or mobile workstation. The knob on this RK keyboard is an excellent replacement for the traditional pause button. Using the knob as a volume control is an great feature to have on any keyboard, and it works nicely here on the R87. The keyboard itself is a nice entry into the 75% range of keyboards. Its keys are thoccy, but a little hollow sounding. Its keys are not hot-swappable, but the knob is. The cream colored R87 is an odd color choice in my eyes, but that is purely a personal preference. You’ll retain some of the versatile keys that are missing on the 60% keyboards (Print Screen, Home, Delete, etc.), but retain the key size and spacing that is comfortable when typing. If you’re looking to clean up your desk and reduce the size of your keyboard, this is a nice entry into the world of smaller keyboards.

This keyboard is under priced for what you get. It comes pre-modded. The typing sound is creamy. The knob on the keyboard is convenient.

Good budget hot swappable switch keyboard! Nice looking RGB and linear switches.
This is a great entry into the world of hot swappable switched keyboards. The switches are linear âcreamyâ switches and they feel pretty good. The keycaps feel nice and have really nice printing. This keyboard does support QMK so you can explore custom firmware options. The RGB lighting is pretty nice, and the strip along the sides looks excellent. I really wish the keys had addressable RGB, but the built in controller does a decent job. The knob spins smoothly and is a really nice addition. With QMK, you could always change the function, but by default the knob is used to control volume. It has a center button which allows the knob to also be pressed in. I like that it uses a detachable USB-C cable instead of a hard wired cable. The price is about right, similar budget hot swappable keyboards are right around the same price. If you like linear switches definitely give this one a try!

Stopped working after a week and a half
Update – After a week this keyboard refused to work. I had to unplug it and then plug it back in, wait about 5 to 10 minutes and then it would start working again. Real inconvenient to say the least.Then yesterday, it just stopped working completely. Nothing I tried fixed the issue.Shame because I liked it. But now I’m using my old keyboard again as this one is bound for the garbage heap.Original review – I was a little shocked when this arrived. It doesn’t have a keypad on the right like my previous gaming keyboard did. So it’s taking me a little bit of time to get used to it.Smaller than my previous keyboard and wired (which I prefer). Comes with the tool to remove the keys. Speaking of the keys, they aren’t as loud as my old keyboard when I type.Love the slow, wavy motion of the RGB lights.It’s a great keyboard for me and my needs. I’m happy with it.
