Lightweight recessed smart LED lighting kit – easy installation
This SikSog smart recessed lighting kit comes with the light modules and wiring junction boxes to string together in an array. You’ll need the right saw to cut the proper sized hole – but once this is done it’s fairly easy to wire up and activate. The instruction manual includes a QR code to download an app to control the lighting system. The overall lighting effect is good, although this is not likely what you would want to use in your primary living area. For a bedroom, basement or garage application this system works very well.

“Works with Alexa” but I couldn’t get it working.
First off, I’m not docking it a star because I normally do *not* use Alexa, and don’t own an echo dot. There could be many user reasons (me) which kept it from working. This may be a little long, so I’ll give my ‘over-all’ now. This would be great as a timed light, especially for a small business. Residentially there are some issues, even if you do get Alexa working, which would be better solved with a smart switch. That said, the customizability of the light temperature is fantastic, but you’re going to need to pull out your phone to dim these things.I do need to say, I needed to plan the circuit, run wire, connect a switch, and finally install the lights. If you’re not comfortable working with electrical, you should probably hire a professional.Features:Dimmable: The light isn’t dimmable at a switch, but the app will allow you to do that.Color: Using the app, there is a wide range of customizable colors, about 100 steps between warm and cool. The light remembers the color setting when switched off.Instant On/Off – Had a switch before which would need to ‘warm-up’ for 1-2 seconds. This doesn’t do that at all.Light Cone: There really isn’t one, but the intensity of it does dwindle at about a 2:3 ratio. 2 feet high for every 3 feet across. e.g. I’d place one every 9 feet minimally for an 8 foot ceiling.Design: A white band 1 inch wide circles the light, and the clear portion over the lamp is frosted to help scatter the photons (aren’t I technical).App Control: Besides being yet another app for your smart home *sighs* it’s actually quite well designed. It easily connected the lights (as per instructions). There are individual controls as well as group controls. Also, you can set-up timers here for a daily or single use. The connection interface uses Bluetooth, but each light can also connect to others in the group, so you only need to be in range for 1 of them to give a command to all of them from your phone. Switches however are still switches. You can also set-up Alexa control here in the app, but be sure to read the directions….I would not suggest this as your first Alexa-powered device. Oh and another consideration, I’m pretty sure the lamps will need power to be able to turn on when you ask Alexa, which means you’ll either need to always use Alexa, or somehow work out how to work a switch into the equation….For the light, it was exceptionally easy to install. Of course you need to plan where they go, and these won’t easily install under a rafter/beam. You’ll need about 1 5/8ths in clearance from the surface of your ceiling. There is a template(~4in) for you to draw the circle and use almost any kind of cutter to open up the hole in your ceiling. I found the hole can be slightly smaller than the template they give, about 3 5/8ths. If you’re going to install more than 4 of these, I’d invest in a drill attached hole saw since it’ll make things run so much quicker. The electrical connection was straightforward, and I’d be sure to secure the the plastic junction box near the hole so the wire can poke through ; it really helps the final connection, squeeze and shove go fast. (I’ve heard from several companies a retrofit doesn’t need to secure the junct-boxes, and these are very small about 1.5×2 inches).

My first smart LED lights, and it was easy to setup
I had never had smart lights before, but I wanted to give them a try. These are called 4″ recessed lights, and it was very simple to install them in an existing ceiling. I found that a 3-5/8″ hole saw would work in drywall, but then the light would be so snug, that I couldn’t get it back out. So I went with a 3-3/4″ hole saw, and that was the perfect size for me.Connecting the lights is pretty straight forward. You remove the plastic safety cap, use a philipps screwdriver to loosen each screw, insert the designated wire, tighten the screw down, and the replace the plastic safety cap when all three wires are connected. I was able to run two 14 gauge wires in the connector so that I could daisy chain the 4 lights together to one lightswitch. You would not be able to fit two 12 gauge wires in the slot. So if you are doing these in a remodel, and you only have 12 gauge wire to work with, this will not be for you.After installing them, I found that they are very bright when just using the light switch on the wall and not downloading the app on my phone. After downloading the app. Each light has its own Bluetooth connection, and you can change the brightness as well as the light color from the app. Then once you set it on your phone. The light remembers that setting for when you flip the wall switch off and then back on again. I then was able to pair the lights with Alexa, and give them a name.Hands down, a great experience with these lights. I look forward to adding more smart home devices in the future.

Versatile and easy to install!
These 4 inch smart recessed lights by SikSog are the perfect combination of features all in one package. First of all, the ability to install without a “can” makes them super easy to install – basically anywhere you want them (as long as you have power available). At 1000 lumens and consuming only 12 watts, they are bright yet energy efficient. Being able to adjust the color temperature from a wide range of 2700K to 5700K is a big advantage to me. I personally like 5000k to 6000K range and my wife prefers a much warmer look. So, just using Alexa we can easily adjust the look according our own preferences depending upon who is currently using the den where they are installed. When we are both in the same room, we compromise with mid-range. 12pk 6″ Recessed LED Lights for $139.99 with coupon added. – First I’d say the lights should be packaged a lot better then they were as there was no bubble wrap or anything protecting them inside and the box was slightly crumpled on one side during shipping but luckily all the lights were undamaged.Anyone with a little handy man experience with electrical work should be able to install these no problem as there pretty simple.I replaced my basement pot lights with LED bulbs and redid another room adding 15 pot lights. What I liked about them was that if a bulb blew , I can just easily pop another one in , but these lights are all one unit ,so if a light stopped working for whatever reason , you’d have to replace the whole light unit.The size of the part of the light that you would see measures a hair under 6 3/4 inches by my tape measure and the minimum hole in the ceiling would have to be 5 1/2 inches and there’s a lot of wiggle room so it doesn’t have to be perfect.The lights work fine but to dim them you have to download the “BRmesh” app on your phone which can be something you either like or not. Its convenient and lazy that I can watch TV and just adjust the lights on my phone instead of getting up and manually doing it.
