It is so bad that I do not keep it at my desk for fear that I will try to use it and become extremely irritated. It shreds 1 page at a time. It is useless! Since it only costs $10.75, plus tax, I couldn’t be bothered sending it back. Do not buy it.

It’s a manual pair of scissors with five blades, not a powered shredder.
Short Version.Does this product allow one to shred/slice paper products manually?YES.Long Version.When one uses Shredder Scissors, the effort is spread out over five sets of blades, so one doesn’t get as strong a cut as with a single set of blades. A good way to use these Shredder Scissors is to cut a few inches in one direction (ex: north/south) then cross-cut in the other direction (ex: east/west) to make the pieces as small as possible. Material on occasion will get stuck between the blades, but it’s easy to push/tap out this material or use the provided Comb cleaning tool. I have a previous pair of Shredder Scissors from years ago, and all I have ever done is push/tap the pieces out. Shredder Scissors are particularly useful for things that might get stuck in a powered shredder. Plus these scissors are portable and inexpensive, so can keep an extra pair in a desk drawer or wherever a powered shredder is not available.I tried these Westcott scissors on three different materials – paper, a padded shipping envelope, and a credit card.1) Discount Store Legal Paper folded over twice (aka: 4 thin sheets).Easily slices this to bits. A few cuts north/south, then re-cut the same area east/west, and it’s confetti.2) Padded shipping envelope.Labels glued to padded bubble envelopes get tangled in my powered shredder, so I prefer using Shredder Scissors on these labels. For a good test, I cross-cut the label while still attached to the intact envelope, so was cutting both the front and rear of the envelope. Took some effort, but it did the job. I closed the scissors and pushed out the excess material between the blades. One or two pieces of glued label were still stuck, but the Little Red Comb got those out. Comb also worked on my old pair with the blue handles.3) Old credit card.Tried pressing down, but could only notch the edge of the card. Tried the older pair of Shredder Scissors with the same results. I dropped the card in a powered shredder.Other info.I saw several different varieties for sale on Amazon, but the odd thing is that every last one appeared to have close to 50% positive reviews and 50% critical reviews. Since all the products seem rated about the same (50/50) I narrowed down the selection by style of handle, construction, and fast shipping. A black handle would have been ideal, but the red Westcott won out as it was Prime eligible. The packaging lists these scissors as Light (duty) and suggests cutting Paper, Photos, Ribbons,and Receipts – no mention of Credit Cards. If the blades ever need tightening, looks like hex is used rather than a standard screwdriver.-1 star as handle is red, not black. 🙁

Quite Disapointement
The scissors clog up with a few inches of cutting. Will not go through a mailing consisting of even a few pages.It’s a shame, was really looking for this to work instead of having to go the shedder all the time.

After replacing a electric paper shredder more then once (even with extended warranty) over the years,these days going paperless the cost of buying a electric paper shredders with or without an extended warranty is not wroth the cost. The very first paper shredder I got lasted for about 11 years due to it being made in Canada but these days they’re made elsewhere. After I got a second paper shredder I did not get the “Extended warranty (Item was made in Hong Kong “Now part of China since ’97”) and that one lasted for less then a few years. I’ve gotten a couple more as the years past due to buying the extended warranty and was able to replace them with a new one. The pros and cons of buying that “Extended Warranty” is you get to replace the item and then drawback is you take any *replacement that mite be an “Refurbished” or a used store display with or without the “Extended three year plan” the local store sells you.* Most stores won’t let you pick the new ideal replacement unless you’re willing to pay out the balance of that new item along with taxes and a new coverage plan. So yeah not wanting to play their game these scissors will do the trick.The Pros:Like the headline says “No plug in needed!”No expensive extended warranty needed!Package say these have a ten year warranty replacement plan (So yeah this is a pro and con as people “Don’t always” keep package/sales slip)The Cons:If you let paper that needs to be shredded pile up for a long time you’ll be busy for a couple hours or longer as it depends how much has piled up over time. Tip:Cut right away when you no longer need that CC bill or any thing with your info such as your SIN,bank pin/number ,CC number!Takes time to shred paper so don’t let papers pile up !Does not cut CD/DVD data disc!Does not cut credit cards very well! TIP: Use single scissors and a pair of Slip-joint pliers so you can grip the CC well you cut the card up.Sticky paper with sensitive info (Membership numbers,phone numbers etc,on cardboard/paper soak in water over night as the ink will wash away making it very hard to read your info! Better safe then sorry!
