EXACTLY What I Wanted!
I have used a mechanical gimbal off and on for about a year, but setup was a pain and I could never get things just right. I’ve saved for a while to afford a wicked motorized gimbal for my main camera. This is officially the second most expensive thing in my studio! Haha. The Weebill S checked all the right boxes in my wish list.Setup was very easy. I followed the guide from the company and after my first try I am now able to get my camera mounted and ready to film in less than five minutes. Once everything is calibrated by hand there is an “auto tune” feature that adjusts everything even more. You can literally rotate the handle ninety degrees and the camera stays pointing exactly where you aimed it.The tripod is extremely sturdy and provides a wide footprint. I have used this for several videos and even when my camera is tracking me there is no wobble. I was kind of worried at first, but it does the job. Tripod also serves as a handle for different usage scenarios. It’s very grippy and fits well in my hands.The fact that you can use your phone to help control things is fantastic. You can move things around without having to actually touch the Weebill S. The app is very straight forward and comes right from the Play store…Didn’t have much of a learning curve with it.On-board controls function as you would expect. I haven’t had any issues with sluggishness or anything. Overall very responsive. There are numerous settings to fiddle around with, too. Luckily you can reset the entire thing to default values if you mess things up…and I did. HahaI’m extremely satisfied with this gimbal. I’ve gotten quite a bit of use out of it already and more projects in the works. Love it!

A buy it for life kind of deal
You could easily find a less expensive gimbal on Amazon and I have bought a few of them. Let me tell you, a cheap gimbal is NOTHING like this. There are so many things I love about this. Sturdy ridged metal construction. Milled components. Positive stops. Thoughtful design. Ease of use. The list goes on. I bought this for my busy season in the Spring so I havent had a ton of actual usage. Just a lot of me playing with the various modes to get the flow down. From my experience so far, I’m impressed and see no need to ever buy another gimbal again – ever (Praise be…). I do see there is a mount for a smartphone and an app that can do some interesting things so I may look into that and update my review at a later date.

very capable, easy to use and manages a heavy camera nicely
I used this with my Sony A7Riii with the 24-70 Sony Gmaster lens – a moderately heavy combo. I like the size of the gimbal – it’s easy to hold on to, especially when you’ve got it configured in ‘sling’ mode, where the handle is above the camera, allowing the camera to hang while stabilized. This allows you to get a lower perspective on your video shots without holding the handle at an awkward angle. Overall this gimbal does work nicely, but the biggest issue I have is with the instructions – the little instruction booklet that comes with the packaging had tiny little pictures with very minimal description on the images or setup instructions. There is a QR code in the instructions to scan with your phone which takes you to a digital version of the instructions which is a little more in-depth – but still not easy to follow. Setup of the gimbal (after I charged the batteries) took probably 2 hours due to the fact that the instructions were so tough to follow. Instructions for the various modes in the gimbal were also not easy to follow, and the menu structure on the gimbal for various follow modes, setup, etc is not very intuitive. However, once you get past all this and get it set up and working – it does operate nicely. It managed the weight and size of my camera setup with no issues.

No complaints. Perfect stability. Tons of cool features. Works great with my Canon t6i. I have a 18-55mm lens but Iâm sure the payload can hold much more. Controlling from the zy play app is awesome. Light and compact. Might cave in and get the image transmitter.

Das Zhiyun WEEBILL S ist nun unser bereits drittes Gimbal im Haushalt. Nach einem FeiyuTech SPG2 für’s iPhone und einem FeiyuTech G6max für meine Sony Alpha, waren wir nun noch auf der Suche nach einem Gimbal für unsere Nikon DSLR Kamera.Hier fiel die Wahl dann doch mal wieder auf Zhiyun – In der Vergangenheit hatte ich mal Probleme mit der App-Verbindung mit einem anderen Zhiyun Gimbal und habe daher bisher immer auf FeiyuTech zurückgegriffen. Direkt vorweg: Das Problem ist mittlerweile gelöst und die Verbindung klappt in alle Richtungen einwandfrei.Wie bei jedem anderen Gimbal gilt auch hier: Erst einmal richtig austarieren. Dies ist im Gegensatz zu den kleineren Modellen und dem geringeren Gewicht der anderen Kameras etwas tricky. Gelingt aber mit dem richtigen Know-How recht zügig. Am besten bei YouTube nach einem Video gucken, wie das ganze funktioniert. Denn das Gimbal funktioniert nur richtig und perfekt, wenn es händisch korrekt austariert ist.Danach braucht man das Gimbal nur noch zu starten und über’s Menü die Auto-Kalibrierung der Motoren anzustoÃen. Danach funktioniert es einfach perfekt.Wer auf der Suche nach einem Gimbal für seine schwere DSLR Kamera, evtl. sogar mit einem groÃen Objektiv ist, kann hier definitiv zuschlagen. Für das Geld bekommt man ein super Gimbal mit austauschbarem Akku. Gerade im professionellen Bereich finde ich dies wichtig, damit man ununterbrochen “arbeiten” kann.
