Product Description

Note:
Since the USB C interface of MacBook & iMac only supports USB 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps speed, using this product on MacBook & iMac will be limited by the interface. The tested speed of the product can only reach about 1000MB/s, not the advertised 2050MB/s.
Why can’t the speed reach 2050MB/s?
Please note that if you need to reach the nominal speed(2050MB/s), you need to first make sure to confirm the following:
1. First, you need to make sure that your computer has a USB 3.2 Gen2 (20Gbps) USB C interface. If your computer only has a USB 3.2 Gen1 (10Gbps) USB C or USB A interface, the speed will be limited to about 1050MB/s;
2. Secondly, please make sure to use the included 20Gbps USB C-C data cable, because the USB C-A data cable will be limited to 10Gbps (1050MB/s).

Amazingly Fast Portable SSD
I needed a portable SSD drive and was hoping for a fast one so it would work well for the future. The Fikwot 2TB External SSD is amazingly fast even with the USB-A cable. I have run into a few counterfeit USB flash drives by testing them using F3Read and F3Write on a linux pc. These typically average 3 to 15MB/sec write speed and a little faster read speed, so it can take days to fill up a 1TB drive for testing. Since I spent good money on this 2TB drive without knowing the Fikwot brand, I wanted to make sure it was not counterfeit. I figured it would be writing for a week to test 2TB. I was pleased to see write speeds consistently over 350MB/sec so it wrote all the 1GB files in about an hour. When I read them all in, the drive tested perfectly in less than an hour with no flaws. I can only imagine the speeds with the USB-C to USB-C cable. The drive is super compact at under 2.5 x 3.5 x .25 inches and it comes with 6 inch long USB-A and USB-C cables. I am very impressed with this super portable drive and am thrilled that I took the risk to buy it at $117.

Important info about using with Xbox Series S
The SSD is great, just heads up for those people purchasing for Xbox next gen (series S/X): you will have to copy over each game initially to your internal SSD when you want to use it!

Works pretty good so far.
Review: FP80 500GB External SSD (USB 3.2 Gen2x2, Up to 2000MB/s, Portable)Rating: 4.5/5Pros: Performance: The FP80 500GB External SSD delivers on its promise with read/write speeds that can reach up to 2000MB/s. This is significantly faster than many other portable drives on the market, making it ideal for transferring large files quickly. Portability: The drive is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. It fits comfortably in a pocket or small bag, which is great for on-the-go use. Compatibility: The drive is compatible with a wide range of devices, including Smart TVs, PS5/PS4 (Pro), iPhone 15, Xbox, Mac, and Windows PCs. This versatility is a significant plus, as it allows you to use the drive across multiple platforms without any issues. USB 3.2 Gen2x2: The USB 3.2 Gen2x2 interface ensures that the drive can take full advantage of high-speed data transfer capabilities, which is especially useful for gaming consoles and high-performance computing. Build Quality: Despite being a relatively unknown brand, the build quality is solid. The drive feels durable and well-made, with a sleek and modern design.Cons: Brand Recognition: As a new brand, there is a lack of brand recognition and trust. While this didn’t affect the performance, it might be a concern for those who prefer established names. Customer Support: Since it’s a lesser-known brand, customer support might not be as robust as that of major brands like Samsung or Western Digital. However, I didn’t encounter any issues that required support, so this wasn’t a problem for me. Price: The price point is competitive, but it might be slightly higher than some generic drives due to its high-speed capabilities. However, it’s still a fair value for the performance and compatibility it offers.Detailed Review:I had never heard of the FP80 brand before, but the increasing presence of generic Chinese brands in the market has made me more open to trying new products. The FP80 500GB External SSD is one such product that caught my attention with its impressive specs and compatibility with a wide range of devices.Performance: The drive’s advertised speed of up to 2000MB/s is no exaggeration. I tested it on my Windows 10 PC and a Mac, and it consistently delivered read and write speeds close to its maximum capacity. This is particularly noticeable when transferring large files like 4K videos or large software installations. The speed is comparable to some of the more expensive and well-known brands, which is a significant plus.Portability: The FP80 is small and lightweight, making it incredibly portable. It’s about the size of a credit card and doesn’t add much bulk to your carry-on. The drive comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-A adapter, which is handy for connecting to older devices.Compatibility: One of the standout features of this drive is its compatibility with a wide range of devices. I tested it with my PS5, Xbox Series X, and iPhone 15, and it worked seamlessly on all of them. It’s also compatible with Smart TVs, which is great for storing and transferring media files. The drive is plug-and-play, so there’s no need to install any drivers or software.Build Quality: The build quality of the FP80 is quite good. It has a sleek, matte finish that feels both modern and durable. The drive is robust and doesn’t feel flimsy, which is important for a portable device that might get tossed in a bag or pocket.Use Case: For my needs, the FP80 worked as intended. I use it primarily as an extra drive for storing media files, backups, and portable software. It’s not designed for critical data storage, but it’s more than sufficient for general use. The high speed and portability make it especially useful for transferring files quickly between different devices.Final Thoughts: While the FP80 might not be a major name brand, it certainly delivers on its promises. The combination of high speed, portability, and wide compatibility makes it a solid choice for those looking for a reliable and fast external SSD. It’s a great value for the performance it offers, and the build quality is impressive for a lesser-known brand. If you’re not storing anything critical and are looking for a fast, portable drive, the FP80 is definitely worth considering.

Great small SSD – very fast for running Virtual Machines.
I bought this to use with my M3 MacBook Pro using the UTM software to run a virtual Mac for my wife. I created a 512GB partition and it works fast. Very nice drive.

It passed all of my tests. Don’t be afraid of the unknown brand name.
Fikwot 500GB External SSD, Portable SSD, Up to 2000MB/s, USB 3.2 Gen2x2 External Solid State Drives, Compatible with Smart TV, PS5/PS4(Pro), iPhone 15, Xbox, Mac & Windows and Other Devices(FP80)The USB flash drive market is packed with questionable products. You might end up with a slow or faulty drive, or even a fake one, and this can happen even with well-known brands. That’s why I always run a complete read-write, speed, and capacity test on every flash or mechanical drive I purchase.I’m happy to say that the “Fikwot 500GB External SSD” has done well in ALL my tests today and received a solid report. Both ChipGenius and USBTreeView indicate that it uses a USB 3.2 onboard chipset. It will work with most any USB port you have, as it includes two of the most common styles of cables. The file transfer speed will ultimately depend on which style of interface you have it plugged into and the sizes of the files you are working with. All my testing was done on the drive as it came, without reformatting it. It was formatted with the ExFat file system. It also successfully completed a full 500GB read/write test using H2testw, and the GRC ValiDrive confirmed it as a genuine 500GB drive, not a counterfeit.[Read] SEQ 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 374.869 MB/s SEQ 1MiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 281.828 MB/s RND 4KiB (Q= 32, T= 1): 67.840 MB/s RND 4KiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 15.853 MB/s[Write] SEQ 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 307.489 MB/s SEQ 1MiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 228.756 MB/s RND 4KiB (Q= 32, T= 1): 66.518 MB/s RND 4KiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 28.545 MB/sI really like the anodized aluminum casing. I wanted to peek inside to see what kind of flash chips, etc were being used. Also, the insides seem to be epoxied in place as I couldn’t figure out a way to get access.

Fast and compact external SSD drive
I got this compact portable SSD for backup of a Windows laptop. The drive is about 3.5 inch x 2 inch in size, with thickness about 0.3 inch. It comes with two USB A-C and USB C-C cables. To reach a higher speed (2 GB/s spec), the USB C-C 3.2 gen 2 cable should be used. This is not a name brand product, from the quality of made, to the speed I obtained through backing up 400 GB of a laptop, it is worth considering.

I read reviews and specs to make sure it would be compatible for using as extended storage on PS5. First when plugged in ps said it wasnât compatible. Restarted. Started to work. Every time I try to move things to it, it says itâs disconnected and crashes. It even crashed my whole PlayStation. Took hours of restarting and reformatting and trying again and again before it finally decided to work for moving some things over but still not others.Edited to add. After thinking I got it working itâs still not. Every single time I turn on the ps5 it says that the USB isnât working and needs repaired.
