It can be a little bit confusing when learning the various switches but once you find the auto setting, it is good for continuous shredding. It shreds various paper sizes and hasnât overheated as I have seen with other models. This is a fair price for the thickness of paper it is able to shred in a single sitting.

Broken machine and promises
Itâs would be unreasonable to expect premium quality from a brand called Amazon Basics, but on the other hand I would expect if Amazon puts their name on something it would represent a quality product thatâs reasonably priced. Well they succeed on one of those points, it is one of the lower priced paper shredders out there, but they fail miserably on quality.WHAT IT ISItâs so tempting when shopping for paper shredders to look at how many sheets it shreds. I suggest to you that unless you are buying a high quality (and expensive) model for use in a high-volume office setting that you ignore this fantasy spec. I do have a high quality shredder at a house at the other end of the country and Iâm spoiled â I have a routine in which I scan and digitize almost every document that crosses my desk and as I do I put the scanned sheets on a stack then grab a handful of about 8-10 sheets at a time and spend an hour shredding once a week or so. With this basic shredder thatâs literally impossible. Iâve had to change my routine here (in which I do far less office work) and as soon as I scan one sheet I planned to drop it into the shredder. And they say it can only be on for TWO minutes at a time, then it will overheat and shut of for 15 minutes. That is unrealistic and ridiculous, it would take all day to shred a few dozen papers.WHATâS WRONG WITH ITAs many other people have noted it is very small, not much taller than one sheet of paper. That means I will have to empty the basket after each use. Thatâs not the worst thing that could happen, this is one of those shredders that you lift the motor unit off the basket, which is basically a wastebasket. Itâs simple and easy to do so I wonât classify that as a dealbreaker. There are two things wrong with it. One is that the cutters are fragile. They are little knife-like tabs that have been stamped out of a piece of sheetmetal, obviously easy to jam with paper shreds and easy to bend, break and lose their sharpness. For the price you get what you pay for. If youâre wondering how this differs from my very expensive shredder, that one has a solid bar of cast metal and the cutters are part of the bar, the cutting edges are designed for long-term heavy use. The second thing thatâs wrong is as soon as I plugged it in and slid the very fragile feeling power switch to the on position I heard it snap inside and it fell apart and the red warning light came on. Now it just rattles in the slider track and does nothing. I never even got to shred one piece of paper. To make it worse, I would expect this seller (being Amazon) to stand behind their product but there is no option to tell them what happened. The make me repack it and send it back. They live in a fantasy world where stores are right nextdoor to their apartment. I donât have any of the places on their return list nearby, the one option that I would have to drive to is in a sketchy neighborhood and the returns desk is located behind ladies bras and they absolutely hate taking Amazon product returns. So the only option they give me is to pay eight bucks to return a product that they have made so cheaply in China that it was broken when I got it. Thatâs their fault, and they wonât stand behind making it right.WHATâS WRONG WITH THE BRANDBuying the no-name in-store basic brand is not a smart decision and this is the last thing I will ever buy from that brand. It is cheaply made, was broken before I even got to use it, and I have to do all the work to return it to inconvenient or non-existent stores and I am 100% sure that they will just send it off (knowing itâs broken and doesnât work) to another customer who will have to jump through the same hoops to send it back with no concern or apology for selling them inferior merchandise.YES NO MAYBEThis is a no for this specific product and for the brand. Buy a name brand and save yourself the inconvenience and disappointment of getting low-end garbage.

Goes forwards and backwards to ensure no paper gets stuck getting shredded, also can crush/shred a cd..didn’t even know it could do it however haven’t tried it out yet. It’s fast not too noisy and does the job.
