audio-technica Hi-Res corresponding Headphone Solid BASS ATH-WS1100

My quest for perfect sound is over
Out of many sets I have now and in the past, these have the best out of box tuning I’ve heard. You can use an equalizer with these, but it’s not likely necessary. You can hear lots of detail… definitely High Res…but they also have some nice bass as well. That’s what I’ve been looking for – a pair of decent headphones that have both high res detailed sound with nice deep bass. If you want more bass – no worries! It responds well to bass adjustments..They sound more like a semi-open back set – more open than most closed backs. Nice soundstage and separation. The price is a value imo – sounds better than HPs that cost 2-3 times as much…easy.They are comfortable to wear for several hours. They are light and not too tight like some. It doesn’t take much power to push them either. As for looks and style, they have a premium fit and finish. Very nice looking set. These are my favorite all-round headphones. This is where premium audiophile sound meets fun and energetic. Perfect balance. Jack of all trades – this set can be used for anything and everything (I mean that – professional to personal…)

I purchased this WS1000 after my 5 year old ATH M50 loses its sound on the left cup.Sound:The over-all sound is quite good, the bass is there while I can still hear the other instruments like in M50. The sibilance or the piercing sound is not present in WS1000.I also like the sound for gaming and movies because of added bass. Comparing to Bose QC15 and others (beats, etc) WS1000 has a cleaner bass sound, it’s not muffled. It also blocks outside noise pretty well, but not much compared to M50 (maybe because M50 is more tight and sealed)..Comfort:For me this is the strong part of the headphone. I can wear this for several hours and still comfortable. My head doesn’t hurt because of the memory foam and the clamp is not too strong. My ears stays cool because of wide space inside the cup and the driver is angled. I also don’t get tired from listening, in M50 I need to pause from time to time.Build:I uploaded a photo, it has a clean and more elegant style for a “Premium” feel. It doesn’t look cheap, no quirky sound when you touch or move the ear cups. Parts are stiff compared to M50.Setup:I am using a separate cable of ATH with a thicker and longer cable. The default cable is too short. I also use my NuForce AMP/DAC and listening with FLAC and mp3 files.

i picked up a pair of these when i was in tokyo, japan in November -these are a nice pair to complement your headphone collection – i have the original ath-m50, beyerdynamic dt-880 pro, and for travel i have the bose qc25 and an older version of the audio technica ath-nc7.these headphones are warmer than the ATH-M50s but the bass isn’t overpowering – considering they are called solid bass — they are not boomy like the Beats headphones – it’s a more accurate bass – the highs are subdued but they are there and so are the mids.the fit is kinda tight – but the cups on the headphone envelops my ears so it is comfortable over the ears but the clamping is a little tight however i just extent the headband so it fits looser.the make is like an alloy on the outside area – pretty light weight – the head band on top is pleather – so are the ear cupsalthough advertised as ‘closed’ headphones they feel more semi-open than semi-closed.i do not have any problems with sound leakage because i don’t listen to music in loud volumesthe specs says you need to use it with a Hi Res audio player — one that plays flack my gear is the FiiO Andes and the Schitt Stack – Modi and Magni – these headphones sound better on the Schitt Stack than the FiiO Andes. the only hi res file i have is the Back to the Future Soundtrack (orchestral only) Flac files – but the Schiit stack and the FiiO Andes frequency specs are 20-20K.these are not overly analytical – for classical music i prefer the beyerdynamic – for soundtracks like Tron: Legacy (Daft Punk) or Oblivion (M83) i prefer using the ATH-WS1100 or ATH-M50s.

以前オークションで中古を購入し使っていましたが、左側の回転部分が割れてしまい、分解して割れた部品を補修して使えてはいるのですが、心もとないので新品を購入しました。耳の限界を超えるハイレゾの音は実際には聞こえていないのですが、聞こえる範囲で低音から高音までのバランスが良く、音にメリハリがあるので気に入っています。耳全体を覆うイヤーパッドは秀逸で、加水分解劣化のため交換する際も純正部品で交換しました。ヘッドバンドも加水分解したのですが、アマゾンで2本セットで売られていたジッパー式のカバーを取り付けて使用しています。分解修理して気付いた点は、長持ちさせるにはヘッドバンドの延伸部分を伸ばす際には回転部分よりヘッドバンド側の根元を持って引き出す方が回転部分の部品に無理な力が掛からないということです。この機種の故障状態の写真には、回転部分が破損しているものが多く見られます。どのヘッドホンも同じだと思いますが、可動部分に無理な力を掛けないことが長持ちさせる秘訣だと思います。好みのヘッドホンを見つけるのは難しいので、長く使い続けたいです。
