Amazing Customer Service (if you have a problem)
If you’re trying to shred volumes of letter size paper, this is your shredder. I wanted to get rid of a file cabinet full of old financial documents, plus boxes in the garage and this saved me tons of money I would have spent if I’d taken everything to a professional shredder (or called a shredding company truck) and tons of time if I’d used a regular shredder. Plus it shreds everything into smaller sized, more secure confetti, which in turn takes up less space in your trash/recycling and is less of a mess than cross-cut shredded strips.
This shredder is designed for you to open the lid, place several hundred sheets of letter size paper into the bin, close the lid, and walk away. You get other things done while it shreds. Amazing. Come back when it’s done and load more. Also, all of these shredders that you can compare it to – they all have “run times” which means how long can it run for before it gets hot and needs to take a break. This has one of the longest run times, so it will shred way longer than the others before you need to stop. Which means more boxes of files done sooner. Awesome.
Does it have any drawbacks? Yes.
If you want to shred paper that isn’t letter size, you won’t do well using the letter bin. You need to hand feed through the top. The top feed does not accept a heavy load. You can’t put very much down it at a time. If you like to hand feed a lot at a time, this isn’t the shredder for you. Also, in the letter bin, paper that isn’t normal paper (different weight – too light, too heavy, has folds in it) sometimes it doesn’t pull through and the whole batch waits while it spins its gears and you have to pop the lid open and pull the paper on the bottom out and reset the stack.
So I shredded probably 20 boxes worth, sold my file cabinet, and took it to my office and kept going.
Ok, so then – about the customer service that I mention in my review title: I did have a problem. It’s been 3 months… and the entire shredder broke. The main gear system just destroyed itself. Total mechanical failure. (All internal – nothing dangerous.) I was worried that I was going to be one of those 1 star reviews. “Oh why didn’t I believe those reviewers?” (But every single shredder you read has some.) So I searched online for Aurora, found their website, emailed customer service and got a response immediately. Not days or hours – minutes. (Yes, it was during business hours.) They had me reply and send photos of the damage / failure plus proof of purchase. They basically said, ok, no problem, you’re covered, give us your address so we can ship you a new one. (I did not need to return the old one.) They were so easy to deal with and no hassles – and yes, they spoke English.

Great for home or light office use
This shredder is certainly an upgrade from what I have. The auto feeder is nice if you just have a small stack of regular sized paper you want to shred. The auto feeder doesn’t accept anything other than normal page size and it’s slow. It shreds one page at a time. But it does allow you to walk away and do other things. The manual feeder says it takes up to 10 sheets at once. I wouldn’t recommend that. 5 or 6 at best. This machine doesn’t seem to have the strongest motor and will go into overload protect quite easily. Clearing the jam is easy, just hit reverse and it will spit it out the top. The shredding is quite fine, does a really nice job there. And the bin is pretty good size which is good for not having to empty all the time but is bad in the fact that if it’s full, its hard to empty into a trash bag without spilling. Overall, this is a good machine that will be good for someone who wants to use it in a home or light office environment. Im pleased with my purchase.

2 month update…I love this shredder even more. Quiet, smooth, no jams, easy to empty container and the automatic feed is super terrific! Highly recommended
This is the 3rd shredder I have purchased and can not believe how much I love it already! When it was delivered, I could tell from it’s weight, the electric motor was well constructed…it just had the metal, not plastic feel.
It works perfectly…super quiet and the auto feed is really amazing. I have used it to shred a basket full of older documents and it was smooth, quiet and effective.
Besides working great, the micro cut really does allow the 5 gallon bin to collect more shredded paper than my previous shredders. This is part of their marketing and is really true.
I will also say the design of the bin makes it super easy to slide it out when full and empty into a plastic bag easily. You may not believe this, but the last 3 times I have emptied the bin, every shred went into the plastic bag. Nothing on the floor to sweep or vaccum.

Excellent for larger home shredding.
The Aurora AU120 shredder is much quieter than our previous ones. and so far hasn’t jammed at all. It’s far cleaner as well. Pulling the drawer out to empty it doesn’t leave little pieces of paper shreds everywhere.
We haven’t tried this with the stated 120 sheet capacity. but we have done about 40 pages at once. Compared to our old ones, simply amazing in operation.
The packaging was strong and secure, protecting the shredder very well. The instructions are easy to understand with clear illustrations. The confetti shreds are all but impossible to reassemble and read. And it you’re doing 20 or more sheets at once, the shreds are even more mixed.

Bought this for my home office and it works well. It will jam if you feed it too much or put crumpled/heavily creased documents into the auto feed tray. It chewed through around 2000 pages of A4 and didnât overheat. Overall good at what it does, not sure about longevity.
