Why can’t I reach the speed described in the product?
You need to check if your USB port is USB 3.1 Gen2 or USB 3.2 Gen 2, only this kind of port can reach the maximum transfer speed, or it may be limited by the host device, which is reduced by part of the speed boost!
Is it normal for the product to heat up?

Compact, Fast, and Versatile SSD
This portable SSD has quickly become my go-to for everything from backing up my phone to transferring large files between my laptop and desktop. The combination of USB-C and USB-A makes it incredibly versatile, so I can easily switch between my old laptop and newer devices without needing an adapter. It’s small enough to slip into my pocket, yet sturdy enough that I don’t worry about it getting damaged when Iâm on the go. Iâve also been impressed by how fast it isâtransferring even large video files is a breeze. Plus, it works seamlessly with my PS5, making game storage super convenient.

Fast transfer, plenty of space, rotation hinge feels okay.
This gives you the fast speeds of USB 3.2 and type c. It will work with thunderbolt port BUT it does not utilize the thunderbolt speed. I do like that you get the best of both world but the rotation hinge is where I am worried. It is solid for now but I would say try not to rotate it too much. I did do a memory verification (verified via h2test) and the memory is genuine at 256 GB. The transfer speed is pretty good but the type c is faster than the USB. The device does not come with a small loop so you cannot attach a strap or anything to it like your keys. This is made of a metal shell which is prone to scratches. There is no kind of cap so either the USB or the type c will be exposed at a time. The hinge holds well so you do not have to worry about it rotating on it’s own (yet). It could become loose over time if you move it too much. The thumb drive itself fits pretty well into the slot but the type c is easily unplugged and bend so be careful. You also can plug this into an android phone although it may not fit if your case is thick. The transfer speed is pretty good as well as the writing speed. You have plenty of space to work with and transferring takes a long time. You may experience some slow transfer if you use the this with you phone. Overall this is a good thumb drive to have if you want both type c and USB. It is made of metal so you do not have to worry about it easily being broken but just be careful of the neck and know that the material is prone to scratches. It is good for storing pictures and videos. I would say just be careful when rotating the usb and type c because the hinge could wear down overtime.

Works great, stupid fast.
In my testing, it was consistently able to get up to 250 MB/s for writing (which is just ridiculously fast), and about 280 for reading. That’s fast enough to transfer the contents of a CD in less than 3 seconds, or 2 DVDs in a minute. I didn’t see any difference between the USB-A and the USB-C plugs. Both plugs worked as expected with my laptop, and the USB-C with my phone. It is “normal flash drive” size, or very slightly longer (the 2 plugs contribute).Physically, it has the feel of quality: the rotating “case” has a detent (click) to hold it pretty securely at each end, and every visible surface is shiny metal. When you plug it in, the computer reports it as “ASMT USB attached SCSI Mass Storage” or something like that, which is fine, so long as it doesn’t confuse you.I also tested the capacity, which was as advertised, yay! Why? Because a distressing percentage of the USB flash drives I’ve gotten from Amazon are bad: they use a low-capacity drive (usually 32-64 Gb) “re-flashed” to SAY it has a higher capacity and re-labeled. What that means is that they work fine until they get mostly full, and don’t fail until you try to READ something in the part that’s not actually there.There is one thing to be aware of: because it’s SO fast, it creates a lot of heat when running “flat out” for more than about a minute. That means that if you’re, for example, making a backup of an SSD, after the first 10-20 GB it can get quite hot, and it will slow down to a “normal” speed unti it cools off. I presume it’s like Intel CPUs, which also slow down to avoid melting down if they get too hot, which is clever engineering IMHO. But the first time it happens, it’s not a good surprise; so now you won’t be surprised. The effect is less (but still happens) if you turn the “case” to make a “T” shape to let it get more air, and there is a detent to hold it in that position. It would also be a little better if it were black, since shiny surfaces act like insulation to keep the heat in.

Quick little thumb drive
I recently had a fantastic experience transferring old pictures between my Mac mini and PC using this drive. The speed at which the files were transferred was terrific! I could effortlessly move many photos in no time at all, and I was impressed by how well the drive worked on both of my machines. The seamless process made me appreciate the solid construction of the drive even more. It made my task much more accessible and smoother, and I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I only wish it had more storage space because I would love to use it for even more of my files!

Tiny Drive, Big Help
This KingSpec external SSD surprised me!
