Best compact USB C storage stick for ProRes HQ recording
I bought this to record directly to the USB C output of the LUMIX S5IIX. Itâs been working well for recording at the highest ProRes HQ setting of the camera. Itâs been just a couple of days but so far just once the camera showed a message that the storage was too slow to record. Playback via the camera and the the iPad M4 is smooth. The speed test was via an OWC app in the App Store. The USB C stick is mad of full metal and feels solid. It gets warm during recording, playback, and transfer but not uncomfortably warm. The only moving part is the cap that flips open to cover the USB C port. The cap gets in the way a bit of the camerâs flip out display depending on which way itâs plugged in. So far, this is the best USB C stick that Iâve found for direct connection to the S5IIX.

As fast as a Crucial X10 SSD
It has been working as expected. I created 3 partitions. A FAT32, NTFS, & exFAT. I saved a Windows recovery drive, system image, and blank 3rd partition. It still connects to my iPhone 16 Pro. It stays cooler than I thought it would. I like not having to carry a cable. The flip cover has a discrete rubber clasp that locks into place with a satisfying snap. The cap looks like it will withstand the test of time. Overall this thing is well built. It has substance too it.

Build Quality Good but no LED light!
Overall build quality is very good and speed varies depending on the file size and the system. The unit gets hot but manable. The only thing is missing is there is NO LED light during the operation – which is a downfall and this why it lost a star.

Itâs right sized for me and literally faster than lightening. I like direct plug, so you donât need to dig-up a cord. It does get hot but not a problem.

Very disappointed
The ad for this drive claims speeds “up to” 2000MB/second. Unfortunately, I have not seen better than about 15MB/second read or write. I have about a 17 hour wait for a 206GB file to transfer to the SSD of my MacBook Pro (M4 Max with Thunderbolt 5 ports), then I’m returning this drive. It’s very disappointing.

SSK USB stick is physically too wide to be plugged into MacBook Air next to its power connector.
On a MacBook Air, there are just 2 USB C ports. Using one port for its power connector, that leaves the adjacent port available for a USB C connector. Unfortunately, the SSK USB stick is physically too wide to be plugged in without first removing the power connector.On a MacBook Pro, there are 3 USB C ports, but whenever plugging the SSK stick into one port, it is too wide so any adjacent ports cannot physically be used – even its mag-safe power connector can’t be plugged in next to the SSK stick. Bummer ! they just should have made the SSK stick about 1/16″ narrower.
